Abstract: Systems and methods for ammonia decomposition catalysts are described. Systems and methods may include providing a first solution, where the first solution includes a first metal soluble salt of cobalt, nickel, iron, and a combination thereof; a second metal soluble salt of magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, and a combination thereof; a third metal soluble salt of lanthanide elements, and a combination thereof; and a fourth metal soluble salt of aluminum, transition metals, alkali metals, and a combination thereof. The first metal oxide, the second metal oxide, the third metal oxide, and the fourth metal oxide may be co-precipitated from the first solution at a pH between approximately 6.0 and approximately 11.0 to form a hydrotalcite-like structured material. The co-precipitated material may be aged and dried. The aged, dried, co-precipitated material may be decomposed to form a final catalyst product.
