  • Patent number: 11929899
Abstract: A comprehensive integrated system and method includes (i) proactively monitoring a network for degraded service and to proactively make repairs to components before service outages, (ii) identifying the root causes of hard alarms and failures on a layer 1 transport network and generate trouble tickets; and (iii) after repair, verifying that repaired backbone network meets or exceeds performance criteria of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with customers. A method includes surveilling first equipment in a network wherein the first equipment is in a controlled portion of the network, observing a set of messages wherein the set of messages relate to second equipment in a leased portion of the network, and detecting a fault in the network based on the surveilling step or the observing step.

  • Patent number: 10128943
Abstract: A system for predictive maintenance of at least one optical network element in an optical transport network including a power monitor in communication with the at least one optical network element, the power monitor configured to selectively retrieve an actual power level from the optical network element; the power monitor being in communication with a data store having a specified power level for each of the at least one optical network element and an acceptable tolerance, wherein the specified power level includes a low mark and a high mark defining a specified power level range; wherein the power monitor compares the actual power level to the specified power level; and generates a signal if the actual power level is outside of the specified power level range by an amount greater than the acceptable tolerance.

  • Patent number: 9276953
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for detecting and blocking unauthorized MAC addresses used by virtual machines. In one embodiment, the disclosure provides automated and consistent verification of VM traffic against values assigned to each VM by network administrator. In another embodiment, the disclosure provides for validating a newly discovered VM by comparing its attributes with the corresponding description of the known VMs stored at a database. A re-validation check may also be implemented. If the VM is validated, the VM will be processed according to network policy to support features including VMReady. If the VM fails validation, other actions can be taken.
