Abstract: A method by a computing system to determine a resource configuration for a function as a service application. The method includes generating, for each of one or more functions of the application, a performance profile of the function that indicates performance characteristics of the function with respect to an amount of resources allocated to the function, determining a resource configuration for the application based on an optimization objective and the performance profiles of the one or more functions, and deploying the application using the resource configuration determined for the application.

Abstract: A method and system of an accelerator selection process is implemented by a computing node, where the computing node has a plurality of accelerators. The method includes receiving a request for an embedded insights-based accelerator selection for an application, determining whether the application includes embedded insights as part of the executable package of the application, and selecting at least one of the plurality of accelerators based on the embedded insights to execute the application.

Abstract: A system and method determine accelerators to execute a function of an application in a computing node, where the application includes a workload steering client. The method includes receiving, by the workload steering client, a workload request from the application identifying a first task, and determining, by the workload steering client, whether the first task has an assigned accelerator. The method further includes requesting, by the workload steering client, the first task to be executed on the assigned accelerator, and returning, by the workload steering client, a result of the first task to the application.

Abstract: A method and system of assessment of applications in a cloud infrastructure includes generating a kernel assessment application to analyze an application to be executed on the cloud infrastructure, deploying the kernel assessment application in the cloud infrastructure, executing the kernel assessment application in the cloud infrastructure, and storing kernel insights collected from the kernel assessment application to be utilized for executing the application in the cloud infrastructure.

Abstract: There is provided a method performed by an entity for handling execution of functions in a function-as-a-service (FaaS) system. The FaaS system includes one or more nodes on which functions are executable. The method includes grouping functions into a group of functions to be executed on a single one of the one or more nodes. The grouping is based on information from the one or more nodes. The information is indicative of which functions access which data during execution of the functions and each function of the group accesses the same data as at least one other function of the group.

Abstract: There is provided a network node and method for placement of virtual network functions managers (VNFMs) in a network functions virtualization (NFV) system. The method comprises determining a number of VNFMs for the NFV system, determining a type for each VNFM, determining a placement for each VNFM over distributed Network Function Virtualization Infrastructure Points of Presence (NFVI-PoPs) and determining a plurality of associations between the VNFMs and VNF instances in the system, thereby generating a VNFMs placement solution.
