In one embodiment, a quantum device includes a plurality of qubits and a ring resonator with left-handed wave dispersion. The plurality of qubits may include 2, 3, 4, 5 or more qubits positioned around the ring resonator. The ring resonator is coupled to a first pair of the qubits, e.g., a first and second qubit. In such a case, the ring resonator has a dense multi-mode spectrum near the qubit frequencies, allowing for large variations in the interaction strength between the qubits.
