    Abstract: A method for automatically applying the optimal configuration for each of a plurality of games to run in a three-dimensional (3D) mode is provided. The method is executed by a computer device. The method includes the step of copying a first configuration file of the game from a first location to a third location in response to a request for one of the games to be launched in the stereoscopic 3D mode. The method further includes the step of overwriting the first configuration file stored in the first location with a second configuration file from a second location. The method further includes the step of causing the game to launch in the stereoscopic 3D mode. The second set of parameter settings is the optimal configuration for the game to run in the stereoscopic 3D mode.

The GPU is configured to receive instructions from a graphics driver. The processing unit is configured to run the graphics driver and the application program. The processing unit is further configured to run a first program to intercept the first function calls sent from the application program to the graphics driver, to create the second function calls each corresponding to the first function calls based on interpupillary distance, and to transmit the first function calls and the second function calls to the graphics driver. The GPU is configured to render a first image according to the first function calls and to render a second image according to the second function calls.

The method includes the step of obtaining the first convergence parameter from a configuration file that corresponds to the application program. The method further includes the step of extracting depth information from function calls sent from the application program to the graphics driver, and determining the minimum depth based on the depth information. The method further includes the step of calculating the second convergence parameter based on the first convergence parameter and the minimum depth. The method further includes the step of modifying the function calls to apply the second convergence parameter. The method further includes the step of converting the modified function calls into rendering instructions and sending the rendering instructions to the GPU, by running the graphics driver. The method further includes the step of generating an image pair according to the rendering instructions.
