  • Patent number: 11852654
Abstract: Illustrative embodiments provide an apparatus comprising a substrate comprising a cantilever, a bottom electrode on the substrate, a bottom piezoelectric transducer on the bottom electrode such that the bottom electrode is between the substrate and the bottom piezoelectric transducer, a middle electrode on the bottom piezoelectric transducer such that the bottom piezoelectric transducer is between the bottom electrode and the middle electrode, a top piezoelectric transducer on the middle electrode such that the middle electrode is between the bottom piezoelectric transducer and the top piezoelectric transducer, and a top electrode on the top piezoelectric transducer, such that the top piezoelectric transducer is between the middle electrode and the top electrode. Illustrative embodiments also provide a method of making the apparatus and a method of using the apparatus for atomic force microscopy.

Date of Patent: December 26, 2023
Assignee: Board of Regents, The University of Texas System
Inventors: Seyed Omid Reza Moheimani, Mohammad Mahdavi
  • Patent number: 11159090
Abstract: Synchronous rectification methods and algorithms, and polarity sensing techniques, based on the homopolarity cycle concept for conduction loss reduction in LLC resonant converters are provided. In a half bridge rectifier configuration, one of rectifier switches is switched ON when the polarity of the inverter and rectifier voltages are both positive and the other rectifier switch is switched ON when both polarities are negative.

  • Patent number: 8674853
Abstract: The embodiments herein provide a system and a method for automatic distress alerting at sea. The method comprises detecting a distress situation by the sensors, sending a distress signal to the processor device, initiating an alarm for a pre-defined time, confirming the detected distress situation by a responsible officer, sending a distress alert package generated by the processor device through a main transmitter device to several satellites and to the terrestrial stations, informing nearest maritime search and rescue coordination centers after receiving the distress alert package and sending one or more rescue teams to a location based on a data provided in the distress alert package. If the alarm is detected to be false by the responsible officer then the distress alert is removed and alarm is activated if the responsible officer neither confirms nor denies the distress situation.
