  • Patent number: 9084070
Abstract: In one embodiment the present invention includes a circuit for automatically adjusting an output of an audio device. The circuit includes a memory circuit, a detector circuit, a control circuit, and an output circuit. The memory circuit stores configuration information. The detector circuit detects environment information related to an environment in which the apparatus is present. The control circuit selects selected configuration information from the memory circuit according to the environment information detected by the detector circuit. The output circuit receives an input audio signal and the selected configuration information, modifies the input audio signal according to the selected configuration information, and generates an output audio signal corresponding to the input audio signal as modified according to the selected configuration information.

  • Patent number: 6542328
Abstract: A stationary disc separator plate for use in a disc drive to suppress turbulence near a disc drive read/write head used to read data from and write data to a rotatable disc. The stationary plate is supported adjacent the disc and has substantially circular inner and outer circumferences. A leading edge and a trailing edge of the plate define an open portion to accommodate radial movement of the head adjacent the disc. A trailing edge air dam disposed at the trailing edge of the plate diverts a substantial portion of an airflow generated by rotation of the disc away from the open portion to reduce an airflow velocity at the head. In disc drives having multiple discs, a plate is preferably disposed between each pair of adjacent discs. Air vents preferably extend through the thickness of the plate to reduce aerodynamic drag and hence power consumption by the drive.

  • Patent number: 6175469
Abstract: A damper for dampening resonance created by a voice coil motor of a disc drive and transmitted to a supporting enclosure, the resonance capable of creating noise signals to the disc drive servo control system. The damper has a dampening member and a liner, the liner being a magnetically permeable member that is magnetically attracted to the voice coil motor and thereby pressingly engaging a magnet housing of the voice coil motor. In a preferred embodiment the dampening member is an acrylic polymer. In an alternative embodiment the dampening member is a fluoroelastomer. The magnet housing has characteristic features that increase the magnetic flux to the liner.

  • Patent number: 5331014
Abstract: The invention relates to a novel compound, compositions and medicaments thereof and a method of inhibiting cell proliferation, platelet aggregation (induced by various factors) and inhibiting malignant phenotypes of tumor cells such as those having a metastatic property, and modulating cell adhesion molecule expression and function using said compound, composition or medicament. N,N,N-trimethylsphingosine shows superior cell proliferation inhibitory and anti-metastatic activity over related compounds.
