  • Patent number: 8884801
Abstract: The present invention is directed to signal processing systems and methods thereof. In various embodiments, the present invention provides an analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) system that includes a flash ADC portion and a time-interleaved parallel SAR portion. For an n-bit ADC process, the flash ADC portion converts k MSBs of the n bits during a single cycle, and the SAR portion converts n?k LSBs in m number of cycles. The SAR portion includes a number of SAR channels that perform A/D conversion in parallel, and the k MSB from the course flash converter is verified for errors by the SAR portion and allows a net saving of the power consumption by reducing the number of fine resolution SARs. There are other embodiments as well.

  • Patent number: 8842031
Abstract: The stability of a delta-sigma modulator may be improved by limiting a value within the delta-sigma modulator. For example, the value provided to a quantizer may be limited, by a limiter circuit in the delta-sigma modulator, to a value within a single step range of the quantizer. The limiter circuit may be placed in an inner loop of the delta-sigma modulator to decouple the stability of the inner loop from an outer loop. For example, a delta-sigma modulator may be constructed with an inner loop having a sixth order and an outer loop having a second order, in which the stability of the delta-sigma modulator is proportional to that of a second order.

  • Patent number: 5379841
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for reducing or completely stopping the water inflows from a deposit in at least a portion of a borehole for the extraction of oil and/or hydrocarbon gas, which borehole traverses a deposit, an aqueous solution of a copolymer being introduced, starting from the borehole, into that portion of the deposit in which the water inflows are to be reduced or stopped, and the borehole subsequently being put into service for the extraction of oil and/or hydrocarbon gas, the fluids present in the deposit coming into contact with said portion of the deposit containing the adsorbed copolymer, and the oil and/or hydrocarbon gas flowing through said portion of the deposit and reaching the borehole, while the passage of the deposit is reduced, wherein the aqueous solution contains a copolymer based on acrylamidoalkylenesulfonate, vinylacetamide and optionally further monomers.

  • Patent number: 5346013
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for reducing or completely stopping the influxes of water of a deposit in at least a portion of a borehole for the extraction of oil and/or hydrocarbon gas, which traverses a deposit, a solution of a polymer being introduced, starting from the borehole, into that portion of the deposit in which the influxes of water are to be reduced or stopped, and the bore subsequently being put into service for the extraction of oil and/or hydrocarbon gas, the fluids present in the deposit coming into contact with said portion of the deposit containing the polymer and the oil and/or hydrocarbon gas flowing through said portion of the deposit and reaching the borehole, wherein the non-aqueous solution of a hydrophobic, water-insoluble polymer is introduced into the deposit and the polymer precipitates in the presence of the connate water of the deposit.
