Patent number: 7561416Abstract: A storage device fixture includes first and second storage device bays for receiving first and second storage devices, the first and second storage device bays having first and second entrances, respectively. First and second ejector assemblies are at least partially linearly moveable within the first and second storage device bays, respectively, and first and second rotatable linkages also form part of the storage device fixture, the first rotatable linkage rotatable in a first rotational direction in engagement with the first ejector assembly, and the second rotatable linkage rotatable in a second rotational direction in engagement with the second ejector assembly. Finally, an actuator may move in engagement with at least one of the first and second rotatable linkages, causing the first and second rotatable linkages to rotate substantially simultaneously in the first and second rotational directions, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2006Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Mohammad Sarraf

Patent number: 6467153Abstract: A method for manufacturing a disk drive includes assembling the head disk assembly in a clean room, performing servo writing upon the head disk assembly in the clean room, and performing a head disk assembly test upon the head disk assembly in the clean room. The head disk assembly is then connected to the controller printed circuit board assembly to form a drive-under-test. The drive-under-test is then transported to an integrated test system and electrically connected thereto. The integrated tests system then performs substantially all of the required manufacturing tests upon the drive-under-test, thereby substantially reducing the labor and floor space associated therewith.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1997Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: Western Digital Technologies, Inc.Inventors: William Orson Butts, Mostafa Pakzad, Mohammad Sarraf

Patent number: 4926291Abstract: An external disk drive assembly includes a molded plastic base; a sheet metal frame latched to the base; a power supply housing, a disk drive housing, and a disk drive controller card affixed to the frame; a forced air cooling fan mounted in a molded receptacle on the base; a cover removably secured to the base; and thin sheet metal plates inside the cover and base to provide electrical grounding and EMI and RFI shielding. The receptacle has oppositely-facing U-shaped walls matching the outer configuration of the fan housing. The sheet metal base has a retaining flange for extending over the fan housing. During assembly, the fan housing is simply dropped into the receptacle so the outer walls of the receptacle locate the fan housing relative to the base and frame. The frame is then latched to the base which locates the retaining flange over the top of the fan housing.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1989Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Western Digital CorporationInventor: Mohammad Sarraf
