Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for determining the combustive behavior of a specimen. The apparatus comprises a housing, a burner disposed within the housing, a specimen holder for holding a specimen disposed within the housing such that, the specimen is exposed to the flame for a predetermined time. During and upon the completion of the predetermined time, the apparatus is configured to determine the combustive properties of the specimen including the ignition time, glowing time, fire endurance time, length, width and area of the burnt surface, mass loss rate incurred by the specimen from the combustion and amount of heat and smoke released from the combustion.
