Abstract: A distributed system includes two or more components, where at least one of the components is a Policy Decision Point (PDP). The PDP is capable of requesting information from another component of the distributed system, and the PDP is capable of executing an authorization process based on one or more policies defined in a policy language. The policy language includes a communicate command, an execution of which causes the PDP to request information from another component in the distributed system. The policy language also includes a fail operator, which defines handling of failures of the communicate command. An analysis tool for analyzing a result of an authorization process in a Policy Decision Point is also described.

Abstract: Virtual reality system facilitating the setup and conduction of a virtual reality episode by receiving virtual reality data captured by virtual reality environment (VRE) user equipment, and transmitting the virtual reality data via a network to other virtual reality components capable of presenting the virtual reality data. The setup and conduction of the virtual reality episode occurs in real-time, such that a user can participate in an episode that represents events presently occurring in an environment. The VRE user equipment includes wireless devices such that one or more mobile users at a plurality of locations may simultaneously participate in a virtual reality episode.

The list of services is then communicated to the user. The list of services may include home environment (HE) services the user is authorized to receive by a home network, and value-added services being offered to the user by the home network, a visited network, or third party service platforms. Both application and bearer services may further be collected in the list of available services. The service discovery process can be integrated in wireless and wireline networks, or implemented in a stand-alone service enabler.

When a call for an unattached/unregistered user mobile-telephone equipment (UE) is received by a wireless communication network, the surrogate service attendant will ensure invocation of the user's service subscriptions according to a set of service handling instructions. The service handling instructions may be issued by an application server, which is operable to execute service logic programs for various value added services.

Abstract: The flexible access authorization feature for wireless telecommunication systems enables network operators and/or service providers to dynamically authorize a user to receive services for which the subscriber has not previously subscribed or which are not supported in the user's home network. This is accomplished by enabling a user to expand and contract their portfolio of available communication services on an as needed basis to enable wireless users to use their user mobile terminals and obtain the services which they need, regardless of the user's location in the wireless communication network and regardless of the present set of services for which the user is authorized. The flexible access authorization feature is accomplished by real time interaction among the relevant functional entities of the wireless telecommunications system to obtain new or additional user information to execute the flexible access authorization logic to decide on access authorization to a selected service.
