  • Publication number: 20230364605
Abstract: Provided are methods of engulfing particles into droplets. The methods use a microfluidic device comprising a droplet generator and a chamber, the chamber comprising a liquid medium disposed on a voltage supply electrode and a ground electrode. The methods comprise dispensing a particle and a droplet into the liquid medium, and dielectrophoretically trapping the particle and the droplet using the voltage supply electrode and the ground electrode. The methods further comprise engulfing the particle into the droplet, wherein the engulfing comprises increasing a supply voltage between the voltage supply electrode and the ground electrode, thereby moving the droplet toward the voltage supply electrode and engulfing the particle into the droplet. In certain embodiments, the methods further comprise modifying the engulfed particle, assessing the engulfed particle, or both. Devices that find use in practicing the methods of the present disclosure are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7669083
Abstract: A system and method for creating multiple test case scenarios from one test case by shuffling the test case instruction order while maintaining relative sub test case instruction order intact is presented. A test case generator generates and provides a test case that includes multiple sub test cases to a test case executor. In turn, the test case executor recursively schedules and dispatches the test case with different shuffled instruction orders to a processor in order to efficiently test the processor. In one embodiment, the test case generator provides multiple test cases to the test case executor. In another embodiment, the test case generator provides test cases to multiple test case executors that, in turn, shuffle the test cases and provide the shuffled test cases to their respective processor.

  • Publication number: 20060225504
Abstract: Disclosed are resonant vibratory gyroscopes and fabrication methods relating thereto. The angular motion sensor comprises a resonating star gyroscope which comprises a vibratory solid or shell-type structure for rate sensing or measuring angle of rotation. The structure formed as a merged superposition of two square entities, yields in-plane degenerate flexural modes that are used to sense rotation around the axis perpendicular to the substrate. The resonating star gyroscope may be implemented using the primary flexural degenerate modes. Such an implementation has been successfully demonstrated by the authors using trench-refilled polysilicon and epitaxial polysilicon as the structural material. It is also possible to use a solid star-shaped resonator (with or without perforations) for the gyroscope. The authors also suggest the operation of the resonating star gyroscope employing the higher-order flexural modes.

  • Publication number: 20050150297
Abstract: A microstructure comprising an in-plane solid-mass electrically conductive tuning fork gyroscope and fabrication methods. The gyroscope is formed using substrate material having lower and upper layers sandwiching a sacrificial insulating layer. An exemplary gyroscope comprises a low-resistivity single-crystal silicon substrate having a lower support layer and an upper flexible support layer. Two opposed proof masses that are separated from the lower support layer lie in and are supported by the upper flexible support layer. Two drive electrodes are disposed adjacent to the proof masses and are insulatably supported by the lower support layer and are separated from the upper flexible support layer. Sense, balance and tuning electrodes are disposed adjacent to the proof masses and are insulatably supported by the lower support layer and are separated from the upper flexible support layer.
