  • Patent number: 11558839
Abstract: A system for updating vehicle time information includes a communication device configured to wirelessly communicate with a wireless network using a network communication protocol. The system also includes a processing unit configured to assess communications between the vehicle to determine whether a condition related to a potential local time offset error exists, and based on determining that the condition exists, transmit a message supported by the communication protocol to the wireless network. The message is configured to prompt the wireless network to return a response message including a local time offset. The process is also configured to update a vehicle local time record based on the local time offset.

  • Patent number: 11528625
Abstract: A mobile communication system of a motor vehicle includes a primary antenna. The system further includes a telematics module having a processor and at least one memory including a computer program code. The memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the processor, cause the system to detect a predetermined vehicle event and measure a primary signal quality of the reference signal received at the primary antenna. The memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the processor, cause the system to determine a maximum primary signal quality and compare the maximum primary signal quality with a threshold. The memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the processor, cause the system to determine a defect in the primary antenna and activate a diagnostic trouble code associated with the defect, in response to determining that the primary maximum signal quality is below the threshold.

  • Patent number: 11220228
Abstract: Methods, systems, and vehicles are provided for user-controlled availability of vehicle connectivity in various embodiments. In one exemplary embodiment, a plurality of sensors are configured to generate sensor data pertaining to a motor of a vehicle and pertaining to user inputs for a user of the vehicle; and a telematics system has a processor that is configured to at least facilitate: (i) determining, from the sensor data, whether the motor is turned off; (ii) determining, from the sensor data, whether a user has requested that the telematics unit operate in an energy conservation mode; and (iii) operating the telematics unit, using one or more adjusted values instead of one or more default values for communicating with a remote server, when it is determined that both the motor for the vehicle is turned off and the user has requested that the telematics unit operate in an energy conservation mode.

  • Patent number: 10862558
Abstract: A communication system for a vehicle includes a transceiver and a telematics control module. The transceiver receives data from a network device using first antennas disposed external to a vehicle and second antennas disposed internal to the vehicle. The transceiver receives the data using a first antenna combination including two antennas, which include one or more of the first antennas or one or more of the second antennas. The telematics control module: reads channel state information including reference signal received power (RSRP) and rank indicator (RI) values; determines if the RSRP value is greater than a threshold value and the RI value is less than a minimum number of antennas being used to transfer the data; and based on the first RSRP value being greater than the threshold value and the RI value being less than the number of antennas, switches from the first to a second antenna combination.
