    Abstract: A smart gate system, and method, includes a thermal sensor for measuring a temperature of a visitor and transmitting the measured temperature, a QR code reader to read a health status QR code having a date range and transmitting a message including health status information of the visitor and a request for entry, a gate controller receiving a control signal for permitting or denying entry through a gate, a server for determining that the health status information and the temperature of the visitor indicate that the visitor has not contracted a predetermined virus and that the visitor is a registered visitor, and responding to the request for entry by transmitting the control signal to the gate controller in accordance with the determination and whether the health status QR code is within the predetermined date range, and the gate controller controlling opening of the gate based on the control signal.

The Ca(OH)2NPs may be synthesized by heating ethylene glycol, adding calcium hydroxide to the ethylene glycol to provide a first mixture, heating the first mixture, adding a carob pulp aqueous extract to the first mixture to form a second mixture, heating the second mixture, adding sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to the second mixture to form a third mixture, heating the third mixture, resting the third mixture at room temperature after heating, centrifuging the third mixture, collecting a colloid sediment, extracting any unwanted contaminants from the colloid sediment, and drying the colloid sediment to obtain Ca(OH)2NPs.

    Abstract: A method of determining shear strength of soil using a fall cone apparatus is provided. The method includes generating a first plot having graph lines defined for penetration depth values ranging from 4 to 20 mm on a first logarithmic paper, deducing a first mathematical model based on the first plot, and generating a second plot having the graph lines extended for a predefined penetration depth range based on the first mathematical model. The method further includes generating a third plot having graph lines corresponding to the extended penetration depth values defined for the W/A ratio values ranging from 0.17 to 13.3 on a second logarithmic paper, deducing a second mathematical model based on the third plot, generating a fourth plot having the graph lines extended for a predefined W/A ratio range based on the second mathematical model, and determining shear strength based on the fourth plot.
