Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, non-transitory computer readable storage media, and systems that utilize layer checks to detect and correct errors in a transaction database that includes transactions associated with multi-layered payment accounts. For example, the disclosed system detects errors in a transaction database caused by erroneous database operators. Specifically, the disclosed system determines states of layers that represent different fund values associated with one or more payment accounts based on transactions in a transaction database. The disclosed system detects errors in the transactions of the transaction database by performing layer checks on the layers according to rules associated with the layers and their respective states. The disclosed system utilizes information about the detected errors and transactions in the transaction database to modify database operators associated with the transaction database.
