  • Patent number: 9392057
Abstract: In an embodiment, a first client device establishes a P2P connection with a second client device. While the P2P connection is still established, the first client device receives a request to send data to the second client device via the P2P connection, and then sends the data to a server along with an indication of a temporary identifier of the second client device without notifying an operator of the first client device that the data is being sent to the server. In another embodiment, the server receives the data, maps the temporary identifier to a unique network address of the second client device and generates a record of the data transmission between the respective client devices. In another embodiment, the server maintains an association for the temporary identifier after the first and second client devices are disconnected from their P2P connection to permit supplemental communication.

  • Patent number: 9350662
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to offloading communication from a network infrastructure to direct peer-to-peer communication. In particular, a server may receive peer-to-peer status information over the network infrastructure from at least two client devices that intend to communicate, wherein the peer-to-peer status information may include at least coarse or precise location information associated with the client devices. The server may then instruct the client devices to communicate over a direct peer-to-peer connection that bypasses the network infrastructure in response to determining that the location information received from the client devices and other conditions permit offloading the communication from the network infrastructure.

  • Publication number: 20160128043
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a dynamic ad hoc gateway that can be configured to provide inter-network communication among different Internet of Things (IoT) networks (or subnetworks). For example, in various embodiments, connectivity and capability information may be advertised via a personal IoT network from a first potential gateway to a first device and other potential gateways and connectivity and capability information advertised from the other potential gateways may be similarly received at the first potential gateway via the personal IoT network. The connectivity and capability information advertised from the first potential gateway and the other potential gateways may then be evaluated to determine whether the first potential gateway is an elected gateway and a secure private network and an external interface from the secure private network may be established for one or more devices coupled to the elected gateway.

  • Patent number: 9292832
Abstract: The disclosure relates to collaborative intelligence and decision-making in an Internet of Things (IoT) device group. In particular, various IoT devices in the group may be interdependent, whereby a decision that one IoT device plans may impact other IoT devices in the group. Accordingly, in response to an IoT device planning a certain decision (e.g., to transition state or initiate another action), the IoT devices in the group may collaborate using distributed intelligence prior to taking action on the planned decision. For example, a recommendation request may be sent to other IoT devices in the group, which may then analyze relationships within the group to assess potential impacts associated with the planned decision and respond to approve or disapprove the planned decision. Based on the responses received from the other IoT devices, the IoT device may then determine whether to take action on the planned decision.

  • Patent number: 9294946
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media are disclosed that allow adaptive automatic detail diagnostic log collection for self-diagnosis and auto-recovery. In an embodiment, a group communication server determines that a fault has occurred with a group communication between wireless communication devices. The group communication server determines a set of events to log based on the fault, and instructs components that host the group communication to begin logging a set of events. Upon determining that logging the set of events can no longer be performed, such as due to too high of a load within a component of the group communication, the group communication server adapts the logging by logging a second set of events that will not cause too high a load, and can dynamically when resources become available.

  • Publication number: 20150326429
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to selecting a physical layer for an access terminal's (AT's) participation in a communication session. In an embodiment, the AT can register its priorities for multiple physical-layer systems as well as contact information by which an application server can contact the AT over each system. The AT selectively updates the system prioritization and/or contact information. When the AT joins or initiates a communication session, the application server supports the AT on a highest-priority system through which the AT can be contacted. The system supporting the AT's session can change upon request by the AT, the initiative of the application server and/or a detected triggering event. In a further embodiment, multiple systems can be used concurrently to support the AT's session, such that the AT can send and/or receive signaling and/or media for at least a portion of the communication session over the multiple systems concurrently.
