  • Publication number: 20060220465
Abstract: An information handling system AC-to-DC adapter provides a low DC power output on initial application of an AC power input. The low DC power output supports communication between the adapter and the information handling system of adapter identification information. The information handling system confirms a proper connection with the adapter and sends an authorization to the adapter to output a high DC power output. The adapter monitors the connection with the information handling system to disable the high DC power output if not needed, such as if the information handling system is disconnected from the adapter or reaches a fully charged battery state.

  • Publication number: 20060174146
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for controlling microprocessor (CPU) performance modes utilizing sensed temperatures as an indication of CPU utilization. By recognizing that temperature can be used as an indication of CPU utilization, higher performance modes can be entered as temperature increases, and lower performance modes can be entered as temperature decreases.

  • Publication number: 20060082960
Abstract: In response to detecting that a power adapter, having a first power rating lower than a second power rating of an information handling system (“IHS”), is coupled to the IHS and in response to a request indicating that the IHS is to be powered on, the power adapter is decoupled from the IHS so that the IHS receives power from a battery included by the IHS.

  • Patent number: 6996734
Abstract: An information handling system that includes a processor, a memory, a program, a battery, and a module. The module receives a request for first information associated with the battery from the program, accesses the first information, converts the first information into second information, and provides the second information to the program in response to the request.

  • Publication number: 20050008186
Abstract: In a speaker assembly in a portable device information handling system, a battery is operable to provide power to the portable device. The battery includes a plurality of cells housed in a battery housing. A predefined number of cells included in the plurality of cells are removable to define a selective portion of the battery housing. The speaker assembly housed in a speaker container is installable in the selective portion. The dimensions of the battery housing having the speaker container installed in the selective portion are substantially unchanged. A terminal connector assembly having a plurality of electrical connectors couples the battery and the speaker assembly to external devices. The speaker assembly includes a speaker operable to output sound having a low frequency.
