  • Patent number: 10443030
Abstract: A system for digesting biodigestible feed that preferably includes the steps of comminuting the feed, introducing feed, an oxygen-containing gas, an accelerant, and bacteria into a digestion zone, the bacteria being suitable for digesting the feed under aerobic, anaerobic, and anoxic conditions. The contents of the digestion zone can be changed from aerobic operation to either anoxic or anaerobic operation, or vice versa, without changing the bacteria in the digestion zone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 27, 2017
Date of Patent: October 15, 2019
    Assignee: Eco Sphere Sciences, Inc.
Inventors: William Nicholas Hiatt, Mohammed Memon, Jacob J. L. Dickinson, James DeWitt Stein, Gary Ailes

  • Patent number: 7847006
Abstract: A modifier material and method for making the same is characterized by the addition of a partitioning agent to a polymer material such as synthetic rubber to prevent reagglomeration of the rubber. The partitioning agent reduces the time required to disperse the modifier material in a material to be modified and also reduces the viscosity of the modified material so that the modified material is easier to handle. The partitioning agent preferably includes a mixture of phenyl formaldehyde resin and precipitated silica gel.

  • Patent number: 6884831
Abstract: A modified asphalt and method for making the same is characterized by the addition of a partitioning agent to a polymer modifier material such as synthetic rubber to prevent reagglomeration of the rubber. The partitioning agent reduces the time required to disperse the modifier material in asphalt to be modified and also reduces the viscosity of the modified asphalt so that the modified asphalt is easier to handle.

  • Patent number: 5927620
Abstract: An improved method for treating crumb rubber particles for use in asphalt compositions is characterized by activating the particles to enhance the rheological properties thereof. A slurry of crumb rubber particles is formed by adding water thereto. The slurry is heated to a temperature of 85-90.degree. C. to release excess oils and chemicals from the particles into the slurry. The slurry is dried to produce a fine mesh rubber product with enhanced rheological properties.

  • Patent number: 5704971
Abstract: An improved asphalt composition for pavement and a method for producing the same is characterized by mixing peroxide with crumb rubber to modify the crumb rubber so that mixes more evenly with the asphalt when added thereto. A compatibilizer/polymer is also added to the asphalt. The resulting composition is homogeneous and demonstrates improved settling and rheological properties at high and low temperatures.
