  • Patent number: 9198434
Abstract: The method of inhibiting a plant virus using gold nanoparticles is a method of inducing plant resistance against viral disease caused by Barley Yellow Mosaic Virus (BYMV) particles by introducing a therapeutically effective amount of polydispersed gold nanoparticles to the plant through a mechanical abrasive, wherein the average effective diameter of the nanoparticles is between about 0.5 nm and 200 nm and wherein the gold nanoparticles are present at a concentration of about 1.0×10?5 g/ml to about 6×10?4 g/ml, and wherein the gold nanoparticles melt and dissolve the virus particles.

  • Publication number: 20140337005
Abstract: Cross-lingual automatic query annotation technique is described, for example, to classify online search queries in Arabic as being of commercial intent, without the need to use human judged Arabic queries. In examples, a query classifier available for a source language (such as English) is used to produce a query classifier for a target language (such as Arabic, German, French). In various examples, a target language query log and target language documents may be used to enable target language and target culture dependent queries to be classified. In various examples a click graph with edges weighted by click frequency is used to infer class membership of unlabeled target language queries from target language documents. In examples the target language documents may be classified using a supervised or semi-supervised classifier. In various examples the automatically labeled target language queries are used to train a target language query classifier for information retrieval and/or advertising.

  • Patent number: 8653719
Abstract: A dynamic three-degree-of-freedom actuator/transducer element comprising at least three piezoceramic actuators and force sensors, as integrated stacks, which are preloaded in the housing by a low-stiffness tension bar, and are constrained, by means of a flexible shell, against shear force and torsion moment, whereby the element, when powered by external voltage source, is able to generate a dynamical axial force and displacement and dynamical bending and moment in the two principal tilt degrees of freedom around two orthogonal axes perpendicular to the principal displacement. When subjected to an axial force or a tilting moment, the transducer is able to generate charges that are proportional to the exerted force and moments.

  • Publication number: 20130041587
Abstract: A method of determining the friction pressure drop gradient of at least one drag-reducing polymer passing through a tubing in an underground well includes determining the pressure drop, velocity and relaxation time of the drag-reducing polymer as it passes through a length of small diameter straight tubing at multiple injection rates in the lab. For each data set, the variables x=(Relaxation Time×Velocity) and y=(Pressure Drop Gradient×Diameter4×(1+De2)1.5) are calculated, wherein De is the Deborah number. Each x, y data point is plotted on a graph where the x-axis represents (Relaxation Time×Velocity) and the y-axis represents (Pressure Drop Gradient×Diameter4×(1+De2)1.5), wherein the curve formed by the plotted data approximates the x and y data for the drag-reducing polymer as it passes through the tubing in the underground well.

  • Publication number: 20120265570
Abstract: A project management scheduling method applies critical path scheduling to separate the duration of each activity of the project into a group of segmented time segments attached to each other. The computer implemented method converts all activity relationships into finish-to-start between time segments without lead or lag times and corrects float and critical path calculations. Additional time segments representing daily events having either a positive or negative effect on time segment duration can be inputted and the project schedule adjusted accordingly. The method can also be employed in the conversion of existing critical path method scheduling systems.
