  • Patent number: 12382270
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for delaying communication of a short message service (SMS) message to an emergency number until a location of user equipment (UE) is determined. To do so, a timer is started as soon as the user hits send for SMS to an emergency number. The location is recalculated until the timer runs out or the desired location uncertainty is achieved. For example, if the timer is still running and the location uncertainty is greater than a pre-configured threshold, the UE keeps recalculating the location. Once the location uncertainty is equal to or below the pre-configured threshold, or the timer runs out, the location and the SMS message are communicated to the emergency number.

  • Publication number: 20250220541
Abstract: A mobile device receives network information from a connected non-terrestrial network. A streaming app installed on the mobile device is configured to stream data at a first bit rate while the mobile device is connected to a terrestrial network. The mobile device identifies network resources of the non-terrestrial network that include a bandwidth, a latency, and/or a data packet loss rate. The mobile device configures the streaming application in accordance with the network resources to stream data at a second bit rate lower than the first bit rate while the mobile device is connected to the non-terrestrial network. The streaming app is configured in accordance with a quality of service provided by the non-terrestrial network that is based on a frequency range, a congestion level, and/or a signal strength of the non-terrestrial network.

  • Publication number: 20250220401
Abstract: A mobile app store receives an access request from a mobile device via a communication network. The mobile app store includes first versions of apps for use on terrestrial networks and corresponding second versions of the apps for use on non-terrestrial networks. The mobile app store determines that the communication network is a non-terrestrial network based on information obtained from the communication network. The mobile app store displays only the second versions of the apps on the mobile device, while preventing display of the first versions of the apps on the mobile device. The mobile app store receives a request from the mobile device for downloading a particular second version of an app. The mobile app store pushes the second version to the mobile device for installation.

  • Publication number: 20250219714
Abstract: A mobile device having multiple applications installed determines that a first communication network associated with a mobile network operator of the mobile device is unavailable. The device receives network information from a second communication network indicating that the second communication network is available. In response to determining that the second communication network is available, the device connects to the second communication network. The device determines, based on the network information, that the second communication network is a non-terrestrial communication network. The second communication network is associated with a bandwidth less than a threshold bandwidth. In response to determining that the second communication network is a non-terrestrial communication network, the mobile device is configured to operate in a non-terrestrial mode. At least one application is rendered inoperable while the mobile device is operating in the non-terrestrial mode.

  • Publication number: 20250007960
Abstract: Various embodiments comprise wireless communication network to notify user devices of user availability. In some examples, the wireless communication network comprises multimedia circuitry. The multimedia circuitry receives a multimedia registration request from a terminating user device and registers the terminating user device for multimedia services. The multimedia circuitry correlates the multimedia registration of the terminating user device with a multimedia session request received from an originating user device. The multimedia circuitry transfers a notification for delivery to the originating user device that indicates an availability of the terminating user device.

  • Publication number: 20240267706
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for calculating a location of user equipment (UE) prior to communicating an SMS message to an emergency number. More particularly, additional time is provided to location services so a complete location can be determined, prior to an SMS message being composed and communicated to emergency services. To do so, the UE transitions into an emergency mode as soon as the recipient of the text message is identified as an emergency number (e.g., 911). This immediately causes the UE to unblock all numbers (i.e., in case emergency services needs to initiate a voice call to the UE), enable location services, and initiate a location calculation. As a result, the location calculation is already determined by the time the user composes the text hits send.

  • Publication number: 20240121580
Abstract: Systems and methods herein improve management of voice and text communications to enhance accessibility. A calling preference configuration of a user device serves as the basis for processing communications that are incoming to, or outgoing from, the user device. The communications can be processed according to the configuration of the calling preference before the communications are received by a user of the user device or transmitted to another user device. The calling preference configuration may be configured by the user and include a sending preference, a receiving preference, and/or a language preference.

  • Publication number: 20100082702
Abstract: A method for dynamically managing data changes to a vehicle health monitoring system (VHM) by a datacenter using an external agent is provided. The external agent is operational on, or in communication with, a vehicle. One of updating or modifying a vehicle configuration file is performed to add or delete vehicle information on the vehicle configuration file by the external agent. A dummy file is created on a disk by the external agent. The dummy file provides a signal to the datacenter that the vehicle information on the vehicle configuration file has changed. The disk is polled periodically by the datacenter to identify a presence of the dummy file. Responsive to identifying the presence of the dummy file, the configuration file is read into VHM memory by the datacenter.
