Abstract: A network environment includes multiple wireless base stations providing wireless access to multiple mobile communication devices. A first wireless base station receives a first signal such as from satellite or other suitable entity. The first signal includes timing information modulated onto a first carrier frequency. The first wireless base station produces a second signal in which the timing information is modulated onto a second carrier frequency. The first wireless base station wirelessly transmits the second signal from the first wireless base station to a second wireless base station in the network environment. The timing information is used by both the first wireless base station and the second wireless base station to synchronization their respective clocks and corresponding wireless communications providing the wireless access to the multiple mobile communication devices.

A query is sent to a license server with the location if the location is beyond the current location area. A list of television broadcast channels associated with the location is sent by the license server and the received list of television broadcast channels are mapped against the current list of television broadcast channels. The mobile device is reconfigured with the mapped list of television broadcast channels.

Communication management hardware associated with the wireless base station provides different types of wireless connectivity via the wireless base station. For example, the communication management hardware initially receives allocation of a first wireless channel. Via an established narrowband wireless channel associated with the first wireless channel, the wireless base station supports narrowband wireless communications between the wireless base station and a mobile communication device present in the network environment.
