Patent number: 11524110Abstract: An infusion pump apparatus includes a length of resilient tubing removably loadable in an infusion pump having a housing, a pumping mechanism, and a pump door. A latch member is pivotally mounted to the pump door and cooperates with a latch pin fixed on pump housing. A free-flow protection device is biased to pinch the tubing closed to stop fluid flow. The latch member has a first range of pivotal motion in a latching direction for causing the latch member to engage with the latch pin to secure the door in a closed position and a second range of pivotal motion in the latching direction for causing the latch member to actuate the free-flow protection device to unpinch the tubing and allow flow. The latch member pivots through at least a portion of the first range of pivotal motion before beginning to pivot through the second range of pivotal motion.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2019Date of Patent: December 13, 2022Assignee: Curlin Medical Inc.Inventors: Azur Azapagic, Mohan Jonathan Barkley

Patent number: 11065384Abstract: An administration set for an infusion pump includes a free-flow prevention device having a movable plunger that includes a cam surface defining an uneven profile along a direction of movement of the plunger, wherein the shape of the cam surface profile indicates the administration set is authorized for use with the infusion pump and may further indicate the specific type of administration set. A sensor in the infusion pump senses movement of the plunger as a platen of the infusion pump is latched and generates a profile signal in the time domain representative of the cam surface profile. A processor evaluates the profile signal and controls operation of the pump to protect a patient from improper loading of an administration set, use of an unauthorized administration set, and/or use of an invalid type of administration set for a chosen infusion protocol.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2019Date of Patent: July 20, 2021Assignee: Curlin Medical Inc.Inventors: Azur Azapagic, Mohan Jonathan Barkley

Patent number: 6801533Abstract: A system and method for for proxy signaling in a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) is disclosed. The method comprises receiving an indication from a customer premesis equipment that the customer premesis equipment requires a switched virtual connection to a public network. The method further includes recognizing that the customer premesis equipment does not have signalling capability. The method further includes negotiating through a proxy signalling agent located on the DSLAM with the public network on behalf of the customer premesis equipment. A switched virtual connection is established between the proxy signalling agent and the public network. A cross connect is established between the switched virtual connection and the customer premesis equipment such that the customer premesis equipment can communicate with the public network through the switched virtual connection.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1999Date of Patent: October 5, 2004Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventor: Mohan Jonathan Barkley

Patent number: 6389493Abstract: A bus management system for dynamically allocating bandwidth comprises a bus and a plurality of slave cards coupled to the bus. The slave cards communicate data to the bus and receive data from the bus. The system also includes a master card coupled to the bus. The master card communicates data to the bus and receives data from the bus. The master card comprises a memory, a communication module, and a control module. The memory stores bandwidth information indicating bandwidths allocated to the slave cards. The communication module, coupled to the bus and the memory, communicates with the slave cards according to the bandwidths indicated by the bandwidth information The control module, coupled to the memory, allocates a new bandwidth to a selected slave card and modifies the bandwidth information to indicate the new bandwidth allocated to the selected slave card.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1999Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Mohan Jonathan Barkley, Andrew Morton Spooner
