    Abstract: A system and method for wireless network communications with a portable communication instrument. The portable communication instrument can be a personal mobile phone. The communications can include voice, video or text information. The information is transmitted from a transmitter in the wireless network to the portable communication instrument over a wireless link. The personal communication instrument is additionally coupled to a stationary unit having display characteristics other than those of the personal communication instrument. At least a portion of the information received at the portable communication instrument is retransmitted to the stationary unit for output, for example, on an improved or larger display.
