  • Publication number: 20160340573
Abstract: A technique facilitates a well treatment, such as a well stimulation. The technique comprises injecting a gel containing proppant into a wellbore extending into a subterranean formation. Additionally, a low viscosity fluid is injected into the wellbore with the gel either simultaneously or separately. An additive or additives may be used to maintain the gel in the low viscosity fluid. The technique further comprises separating the gel into slugs and then causing the slugs to flow into fractures in the subterranean formation.

  • Patent number: 8505628
Abstract: High solids content slurry, systems and methods. The slurry comprises a carrier fluid and a solids mixture of first, second, third and fourth particle size distribution (PSD) modes wherein the first PSD mode is at least three times larger than the second PSD mode, which is larger than the third PSD mode, which is larger than the fourth PSD mode, and wherein at least one of the second and third PSD modes is less than 3 times larger than the respective third or fourth PSD mode. The method comprises forming the slurry, positioning a screen in a wellbore and circulating the slurry through the wellbore such that the solids mixture is deposited between the screen and the wellbore. The system comprises a pump to circulate the slurry, a workstring to position the screen and means for converting the slurry to a gravel pack.

  • Patent number: 7770644
Abstract: A method is described for treating a subterranean formation with a low viscosity fluid system that contains a viscoelastic surfactant at a concentration too low to viscosify the fluid, but that is concentrated in the formation so that the fluid system gels. The fluid optionally contains a formation-dissolving agent. The fluid is used in matrix acidizing, acid fracturing, and diversion.

  • Patent number: 7657415
Abstract: Subterranean treatment formation using a model which takes into account the pore level physics by coupling the local pore scale phenomena to the macroscopic variables (Darcy velocity, pressure and reactant cup-mixing concentration) through the structure-property relationships (permeability-porosity, average pore size-porosity and interfacial area-porosity) and the dependence of the fluid-solid mass transfer coefficient and fluid phase dispersion coefficient on the evolving pore scale variables (average pore size, local Reynolds and Schmidt numbers).

  • Publication number: 20070029085
Abstract: Compositions and methods are given to prevent, alleviate and remedy water blocks and gas blocks (condensate block or condensate banking). Wettability modifiers are contacted with the formation to change the surfaces from water wet or oil wet to intermediate wet or gas wet. Preferred wettability modifiers include partially or completely fluorinated surfactants or polymers, for example fluorosilanes such as perfluorosilanes, urethane oligomers containing perfluoro alkyl moieties, fluoroacrylates, and fluoroalkyl containing terpolymers or their mixtures. Other examples include surfactants, for example viscoelastic surfactants such as cationic surfactants such as quaternary amines, and zwitterionic surfactants, such as betaines, optionally mixed with co-surfactants.

  • Publication number: 20060184346
Abstract: Disclosed are methods of modeling stimulation treatments, such as designing matrix treatments for subterranean formations penetrated by a wellbore, to enhance hydrocarbon recovery. The modeling methods describe the growth rate and the structure of the dissolution pattern formed due to the injection of a treatment fluid in a porous medium, based on calculating the length scales for dominant transport mechanism(s) and reaction mechanism(s) in the direction of flow lX and the direction transverse to flow lT. Methods of the invention may further include introducing a treatment fluid into the formation, and treating the formation.
