  • Patent number: 4387258
Abstract: Palladium or platinum is deposited on a low acidity silica polymorph/silicalite/high silica zeolites to yield a supported catalyst particularly useful in the hydrogenation of acetylenes and diolefins. The catalyst has a decreased tendency to promote polymerization which causes fouling than previously used alumina catalysts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 25, 1982
Date of Patent: June 7, 1983
Assignee: Exxon Research & Engineering Co.
Inventors: Mohan Vadekar, Harry E. Robson
  • Patent number: 4248705
Abstract: An improved process for removing oil from oily waste water streams, particularly from aqueous refinery streams wherein the oil is present as a stable oil-in-water emulsion, which comprises passing the stream through a filter bed of particulate, unprocessed PVC or its copolymers mixed with a granular, inert and preferably porous filler material such as particles of coke or carbon. The improvement substantially increases bed life and has unexpectedly resulted in higher oil-absorption capacity of the filter bed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 1977
Date of Patent: February 3, 1981
Assignee: Exxon Research & Engineering Co.
    Inventor: Mohan Vadekar
  • Patent number: 4008160
Abstract: A process for removing oil from oily waste water streams, particularly from aqueous refinery streams wherein the oil is present as a stable oil-in-water emulsion, which comprises passing the stream over a particulate bed of an unprocessed, vinyl chloride containing polymer including PVC and its copolymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 1975
Date of Patent: February 15, 1977
Assignee: Exxon Research and Engineering Company
Inventors: Mohan Vadekar, Herbert S. Wilson
