  • Publication number: 20220365196
Abstract: A radar system includes first, second, and third transmitter branches. The first transmitter branch transmits a first frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signal having a first set of chirps having a first phase setting such that phase values of consecutive chirps differ by a first phase difference. The second transmitter branch transmits a second FMCW signal having a second set of chirps having a second phase setting such that phase values of consecutive chirps differ by a second phase difference. The third transmitter branch transmits a third FMCW signal having a third set of chirps having a third phase setting such that phase values of consecutive chirps differ by a third phase difference. The first phase difference, the second phase difference, and the third phase difference are different phase differences. The first phase difference, the second phase difference, and the third phase difference are asymmetrically distributed relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 11428796
Abstract: A radar system and a method for detecting a target using the radar system. The radar system includes a waveform generator, a plurality of phase shifters, at least one mixer, an analog-to-digital converter, a fast Fourier transform (FFT) processor, and a processor. The waveform generator generates a frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) signal including a set of chirps repeated for a predetermined number of times. The phase shifters shift a phase of each chirp on a transmit branch. The phases transmitted via first and second transmit branches are shifted in accordance with first and second sets of regularly spaced phases, respectively. The first and second sets of regularly spaced phases have first and second phase differences, respectively, that are different from each other. The FFT processor performs FFT processing and the processor determines an angle of direction of the target based on range Doppler map bins.

  • Patent number: 10505378
Abstract: A system and method to identify whether a removable battery pack inserted into a battery-powered device is an authorized battery pack for the device. Battery-powered devices may include a battery-powered drill, saw, flashlight or other type of device. The battery-powered device may send an authentication query to the battery pack. If the battery-powered device does not receive a valid reply from the battery pack, the battery-powered device may verify that the battery-powered device is still within a phase-out period that allows the battery-powered device to use a battery pack with an invalid authentication. If the phase-out period has expired, the battery-powered device may disable the use of the battery pack with an invalid authentication. If the phase-out period is still running, the battery-powered device may allow the use of the battery pack with an invalid authentication, but only for a limited number of battery pack recharge cycles.

  • Patent number: 9853749
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for verifying integrity of a signal path across an isolation barrier are discloses. The devices, systems, and methods insert a marker signal into the signal path across the isolation barrier. The marker includes an analog signal. The devices, systems, and methods transmit a version of the marker signal across the isolation barrier and receiving a signal comprising the transmitted version of the marker signal. The devices, systems, and methods verify the integrity of the signal path based on the received signal.

  • Publication number: 20170364360
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for providing anti-theft protection for power tools. In one example of the techniques of the disclosure, at least one processor of a power tool receives, from an operator, a command to operate the power tool. In response to receiving the command, the at least one processor determines whether at least one of a value of a master authentication counter of the power tool and a value of a user authentication counter of the power tool has reached a predetermined threshold. In response to determining that the at least one of the value of the master authentication counter and the value of the user authentication counter has reached a predetermined threshold, the at least one processor disables the power tool.
