  • Publication number: 20230378851
Abstract: An electric machine includes a rotor structure disposed within a motor housing, wherein a second rotor end has a plurality of axially stacked laminations. The electric machine further includes a motor position sensor system which includes a first plurality of cutouts defined in the plurality of axially stacked laminations, wherein the first plurality of cutouts have a progressively smaller cross-sectional area at each lamination. The motor position sensor system also includes a second plurality of cutouts defined in the plurality of axially stacked laminations, wherein the second plurality of cutouts have a progressively smaller cross-sectional area at each lamination. The motor position sensor system further includes a plurality of motor sensors axially spaced from the second rotor end, and a plurality of sensor magnets axially spaced from the second rotor end and the plurality of motor sensors.

  • Patent number: 11652380
Abstract: An electric motor assembly comprising a stator having a plurality of stator lamination sheets. Each of the stator lamination sheets includes an annular body and a plurality of stator teeth extending radially inwardly from the annular body to an opening. A rotor is located in the opening. Each of the stator teeth defining a pocket with a dampening element located in the pocket. The dampening element comprises a material that is viscoelastic. The pocket and dampening element are located in a location of the stator tooth that has less magnetic flux than an adjacent area of the stator tooth.

  • Publication number: 20210057977
Abstract: This application concerns embodiments of a low cost magnetically geared lead screw (MGLS). In some embodiments, a MGLS system comprises at least an outer cylinder, an inner rotor, and a translator sandwiched between the outer cylinder and the inner rotor. In various embodiments, the MGLS overcomes some of the disadvantages of other systems by skewing magnetic pole pairs on either or both of the outer cylinder or the inner rotor instead of skewing magnetic portions of the translator. By skewing the pole pairs, the translator placed between the outer and inner cylinder is generally not required to contain any magnetic material (such as permanent magnets or magnetic rings, rare earth elements, etc.), which may otherwise cause the translator to become costly and/or heavy, or to exhibit any other number of deficiencies.
