    Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved coating for manufactured seeds wherein the coating is able to resist cracking at temperatures below about 1° C. The coating usable with the present invention is comprised of a wax impregnated cellulose substrate wherein the wax composition is comprised substantially of paraffin hydrocarbon cellulose substrata having a Gaussian distribution of carbon chain length ranging from 21 carbons per chain to 40 carbons per chain and a maximum number of paraffin hydrocarbon chains having 31 carbons per chain. One aspect of the present invention is that it provides a wax formulation able to resist cracking at low temperatures and also a wax formulation with a desirable viscosity for commercial manufactured seed coat applications.
