As the weight of the object is known, the moments may be divided by the weight to determine the precise arm from the scale to the center of gravity of the object. A line is marked across the exterior surface of the object along each orthogonal axis, with the intersection of the lines defining the center of gravity of the object. A programmable electronic scale is preferably used, but other mechanical and electronic scales may be used as well. The knowledge of the precise location of the center of gravity of the object enables a technician to add or remove weight in precise amounts and locations to adjust the center of gravity precisely.

    Abstract: The golf club hosel bending fixture immovably secures a golf club head therein in order to adjustably bend the hosel angle of the club head to “fine tune” the characteristics of the club. The fixture includes an angularly articulating crown jaw assembly, a relatively fixed lower jaw assembly generally opposite the crown jaw assembly, a longitudinally disposed back jaw assembly, and a club head face jaw disposed at the base of the crown jaw track in order to remain aligned with the crown jaw. The jaw clamp and base mechanisms are laterally symmetrical, in order to provide for both left- and right-hand club heads. Two orthogonal gauges are provided to check both loft and lie angles of the hosel relative to the club head and face. The gauges may be adjustably positioned to either side of the fixture, to check either left- or right-hand club heads.

    Abstract: The golf club head with an adjustable center of mass provides for player adjustment of club action according to the position of an adjustable weight or mass within the club head. A hollow, “metal wood” type club head includes an open receptacle in the sole wall, with an L-shaped arm and mass installing in the receptacle. The arm includes a club head attachment end that attaches within the receptacle, and a weighted end, which extends into the interior of the club head. The L-shaped arm may be turned about its mounting axis to orient the weight or mass to the front, rear, left, or right within the club head, or to some intermediate position therebetween. The adjustably positionable mass alters the collective center of gravity of the assembly to affect the draw, fade, and loft tendencies of the club, as well as affecting the vibratory characteristics of the club.

    Abstract: The head-to-shaft separation tool for golf clubs includes an automatically adjusting shaft grip assembly and an automatically adjusting hosel stop at the club head retaining bracket. The device comprises a base with a frame extending substantially normal thereto. A hydraulic jack, e.g., bottle jack, extends from the base, with its extension axis substantially parallel to the frame. A club shaft grip assembly slides in a slot through the frame, with a transfer fixture transferring force from the jack to the shaft grip assembly. The club head is retained by the fixed club head retaining bracket, while the shaft grip assembly automatically closes on the club shaft as it is moved away from the club head retaining bracket. Heat is applied to break the adhesive bond between the shaft and club head, with the tensile force applied by the present device separating the shaft from the club head.

    Abstract: A golf club swing weight balance and scale according to the invention includes a weighing beam having and extending between first and second ends, a grip backstop disposed at the second end of the weighing beam and including a grip cap compensator movable within the grip backstop between an extended position and a retracted position, a slide weight slideably mounted on the weighing beam, and a pivot assembly pivotally supporting the weighing beam at a location intermediate the first and second ends and including a single support member disposed on only one side of the weighing beam so that the slide weight can be moved from the first end to the second end in a single stroke. The pivot assembly preferably includes a knife edge fulcrum, one end of which includes a knife edge pivotally connected to the weighing beam. The slide weight indicator includes a balance indicator indicating when the weighing beam is balanced, most preferably a bubble level mounted on the slide weight.

The flexible member has a slit or peripheral opening extending from the central opening to the periphery of the flexible member. The flexible member is firmly held in the tool between the frame and the clamp. The tool can be drawn along a shaft that is positioned within the central opening, with the flexible member being deflected by direct contact with the shaft at the central opening, to spread an adhesive or other material on the shaft or wrap an adhesive tape onto the shaft.

    Abstract: A golf club survey instrument includes a weight scale and a variably positionable fulcrum, enabling the instrument to be used determine the total weight of a golf club or the weight of each of its separate components, the swing weight of the club, and the center of gravity of the club. A linear scale also provides for the determination of the length of the club, or club components such as the shaft, grip, etc. The instrument comprises a base having a weight scale affixed at one end thereof, with the scale including a golf club grip retainer thereon positioned to place the end of the grip at the origin of the linear scale. The retainer also limits oscillations of the club, thereby providing for the rapid and accurate determination of the center of gravity of the club when balanced upon the fulcrum of the instrument. The base also includes a linear track therein and parallel to the linear scale, with the track providing for the adjustable positioning of the fulcrum therein.

The scale also includes a weighing pan providing for the weighing of various separate components, as well as providing for the retention of a golf club thereon to determine the total and swing weight thereof. The device also includes stops to preclude excessive oscillation of the weighing pan and club retainers, as well as a golf club or other article placed thereon, during the weighing operation, thus reducing the time required for the scale to come to a rest position.
