  • Patent number: 9679400
Abstract: Methods and devices provide a quick and intuitive method to launch a specific application, dial a number or send a message by drawing a pictorial key, symbol or shape on a computing device touchscreen, touchpad or other touchsurface. A shape drawn on a touchsurface is compared to one or more code shapes stored in memory to determine if there is a match or correlation. If the entered shape correlates to a stored code shape, an application, file, function or keystroke sequence linked to the correlated code shape is implemented. The methods also enable communication involving sending a shape or parameters defining a shape from one computing device to another where the shape is compared to code shapes in memory of the receiving computing device. If the received shape correlates to a stored code shape, an application, file, function or keystroke sequence linked to the correlated code shape is implemented.

  • Patent number: 8472575
Abstract: A method of assessing a received signal acquired through a physical channel and comprising a pilot channel, the method comprising estimating from an oversampled version of the received signal an oversampled response for the physical channel and quantifying noise in the received signal using the oversampled received signal and the oversampled channel response.

  • Patent number: 7424063
Abstract: A method of decoding a transmitted string of symbols received as a received signal. The method includes searching for a candidate string of symbols, by searching for candidate symbols within a region of a multi-dimensional lattice, and decoding the transmitted string of symbols by selecting a candidate string of symbols. The candidate string of symbols includes a string of candidate symbols. The searching for the candidate symbols includes selecting a candidate value for one of the transmitted symbols, and testing whether a part of the multi-dimensional lattice defined by the selected candidate value is within a bounding distance from the received signal. The searching for the candidate symbols is stopped after a limiting number of performances of the testing. The decoding includes providing a linear estimate of the transmitted string of symbols when the searching for the candidate string of symbols fails to locate the candidate string of symbols.
