Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for efficiently providing multimedia services from a multimedia system. A script server is included with the multimedia system to host common scripts for invoking media-related functions from media servers. When an application server within the multimedia system runs an application and determines a media-related function is required, a script for the required media-related function is accessed from the script server. The script is run to invoke the media-related function from a media server.

Abstract: A mobile communications device, method, and medium are provided for enhanced video communications for hearing-impaired users. A hearing-impaired call mode can be selected by a user, causing the device to establish a hearing-impaired call mode configuration. Establishing a hearing-impaired call mode configuration can include disabling a microphone and speakers and enabling an adjustable camera. The adjustable camera can tilt, pan, change focus, and the like to maintain a region of interest within a viewing angle of the camera.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for formatting video frames such that a region of interest is emphasized and the video frames can be encoded, communicated, and rendered without excessive processing burdens. A region of interest is identified in a video frame and a feature mask is created that represents the region of interest. The feature mask can be used to crop the video frame to remove background images that are not within the region of interest and the cropped video frame can be overlayed on a simulated background before being encoded and communicated to a display device.

Abstract: Media, systems, and methods are provided for evaluating a video processing technology based on subjective feedback. Videos from a plurality of sources for one or more subjective feedback targets are randomly selected. The selected videos with a video processing technology are processed, such that the selected videos include at least one impairment. The selected videos are transmitted to the one or more subjective feedback targets. Subjective feedback is received from the one or more subjective feedback targets regarding a perceptional aspect of the selected videos.

Abstract: Mobile device playback and control of media content stored on a personal media host device is provided. The mobile device may communicate a request for media content to a network server, which may determine whether the mobile device is authorized to access the requested media content. If it is determined that the mobile device is authorized, the network server may access the media content from the host device. The network server may then initiate a media session with the mobile device, wherein the media content is streamed to the mobile device.
