Patent number: 10935980Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide techniques for automated replacement of components in a datacenter. A robot is instructed to follow a route to replace parts within a datacenter. Embodiments include predicting a failure rate for a plurality of computer components within a datacenter. A failure time is then predicted for the computer components based on the corresponding failure rate. A route is created that allows the robot to visit the one or more racks containing the computer components that need to be replaced. The robot then replaces the components that require replacing. In this way, datacenter efficiency is improved and operating costs are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2018Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Maharaj Mukherjee, Gregory J. Boss, Monimala Mukherjee, Jimi Lin

Publication number: 20140129279Abstract: Systems and techniques for schedule management are described. Previously scheduled and proposed events for a user are examined to determine if multiple events occupy the same time period, and the presence of such multiple events is identified as a conflict affecting the time period. A severity value is determined for each time period affected by such multiple events, with the determination suitably employing a recursive function based at least in part on a number of conflicting events and their severities. Conflict and conflict severity information may be presented to users in the form of a display indicating relative severities of conflicts, or alerts having characteristics based at least in part on conflict severity.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2012Publication date: May 8, 2014Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Maharaj Mukherjee, Monimala Mukherjee
