  • Patent number: 5995159
Abstract: A closed-caption scrolling method and apparatus suitable for displaying a closed caption including syllable characters and capable of reducing the memory capacity. According to the method, the caption signal is encoded in a line of each field of a broadcasting television signal which does not affect the broadcasting signal, and then transmitted to be displayed on a screen of a receiver. A control code for controlling the size of a scroll region and the scrolling direction is produced, so that character information following the control code is displayed on the predetermined scroll region, being scrolled in a predetermined direction, by the control code.

  • Patent number: 5831591
Abstract: In an information picture display device using a double-picture type screen, a TV microcomputer controls a double window processing unit, an information processing unit processes information data received from a value added network and recognizes a selected screen mode to then output a switching control signal. The device is constructed so that the output of a switching unit for selecting one of a sub-video signal and a signal processed in the information processing unit is input to the double window processing unit, thereby displaying an information signal on the entire double-picture type screen, displaying the information signal and a TV signal separately on partitions of the double-picture type screens, or displaying the information signal superimposed on the TV signal. When the information signal is displayed on the entire screen, the signal processed in the information processing unit is displayed directly without passing through the double window processing unit, thereby improving picture quality.

  • Patent number: 5815216
Abstract: A display device displays first and second video signals on a double-picture type screen. The device comprises a double window processing unit, a microcomputer, an information processing unit, a compressor, first through fourth switches, and a display unit. The double window processing unit processes the first and second video signals and outputs a television video signal and first synchronization signals. The microcomputer controls the double window processing unit and outputs first and second switching signals. The information processing unit receives data from a value added network, outputs a corresponding information video signal, generates second synchronization signals, and outputs third and fourth switching signals. The compressor receives an external video signal, generates a corresponding compressed is video signal, and outputs third synchronization signals. The first and fourth switches selectively output the first, second, or third synchronization signals as selected synchronization signals.

  • Patent number: 5721593
Abstract: A signal selection circuit is disclosed for use in an intelligence TV. The intelligence TV can display a signal prioritized in the order of a TV OSD signal, a PIP signal, an information signal, and a TV signal. The structure for carrying out this prioritization includes a TV signal processor for processing a TV signal and outputting a TV signal, an information signal processor for outputting an information signal by decoding the received information data from value added networks and for outputting a first switching control signal by recognizing a selection mode, and a PIP signal processor for processing the TV signals as a main picture signal and a sub picture signal and for outputting a PIP signal and a second switching control signal. A TV microcomputer generates an OSD for the operation of the TV. Plural switching devices operate responsively to switching control signals from the TV microcomputer, the information signal processing unit and the PIP signal processor.

  • Patent number: 5654764
Abstract: The present invention discloses a data separating circuit for separating digital data contained in a video signal. This invention uses a digital circuit formation rather than an analog circuit formation, in order to stabilize a slicing level. Such stabilization is quite important in TTX DATA separation in order to avoid detrimental effects of the environment, such as temperature variations, or errors in the analog components due to wide error tolerances. Furthermore, the present data separating circuit can analyze variations in the data ranges and in the present slicing level, and appropriately move the slicing level without being affected by noise or the transformation of signals, thereby precisely separating TTX DATA and being capable of adapting to changing conditions.

  • Patent number: 5634798
Abstract: A compact disk player incorporated television receiver includes a television signal receiver, a compact disk player having a song accompaniment function, a video signal processor for selectively receiving and processing a video signal output by the television signal receiver or a video signal output by the compact disk player and displaying the processed signal on a monitor. The device also contains an audio signal processor and a power source for generating voltage signals to supply power to the television signal receiver, the monitor, and the compact disk player. Also, a television controller is provided for controlling the supply of the voltage signals by the power source depending on whether the device is operating in a television mode or compact disk mode. The device operates in a television mode or a compact disk mode based on control signals input via an instruction input unit. Accordingly, when an audio compact disk is being played by the compact disk player (i.e.

  • Patent number: 5631712
Abstract: A CDP-incorporated television receiver is provided which includes a CD reproducer, a CDG processor, a CDV processor, and a CD-OK processor. The CD reproducer reads data from an optical disk, and the CDG, CDV, and CD-OK processors input such data and respectively produce corresponding RGB, synchronization, and other signals, which respectively correspond to CD-graphics, CD-video, and CD-OK. A CD controller also receives a data signal from said CD reproducer, and determines the type of compact disk currently being reproduced by the CD reproducer based on the data signal. As a result, the CD controller produces a selection signal corresponding to the type of compact disk and outputs the selection signal to a switching matrix. The switching matrix selectively outputs one group of RGB, synchronization, and other signals based on the selection signal to an encoder, and the encoder converts the selected RGB signal into a CD video signal.
