Abstract: A method and device of enabling interoperation between different devices over a network are provided. A test code corresponding to a service to be performed using device information received from a service providing device in a network is generated, the test code is transmitted to the service providing device, a result of the test code execution is received from the service providing device, and interoperability with the service providing device is determined with respect to the service by using the result of the execution of the test code. An environment suitable for interoperation with the service providing device is established when interoperation with the service providing device is possible.

Abstract: A multimedia content redirection method is provided. The multimedia content redirection method reproduces media content at a sink node employing enhanced media reproduction performance by redirecting a current media content being reproduced to the sink node when the sink node, such as audio device or media player, capable of reproducing multimedia contents is discovered in a network while a source node such as mobile terminal is reproducing the media content in an ad-hoc network.

Abstract: An OSGi-based home gateway apparatus and a device register method includes a device detecting unit which detects at least one legacy device which does not load a controllable middleware from a plurality of home devices connected to the home network; an outside network interface which receives drive information of the detected legacy device through the outside network; a bundle creating unit which creates a legacy bundle by combining the input drive information and a predetermined network protocol which can be used in the home network; and a device registering unit which registers the created legacy bundle to the OSGi framework.

Abstract: A method and device of enabling interoperation between different devices over a network are provided. A control script corresponding to a service to be performed using device information received from a service providing device in a network is generated, the control script interoperating with the service providing device is executed, and when an error occurs during an execution of the control script, one routine of a plurality of handling routines is executed according to severity of the occurred error type. A suitable environment is established for interoperation with the service providing device as a result of having executed the one routine of the plurality of handling routines, when interoperation with the service providing device is possible.

Abstract: A system and method for intermediating an audio/video (A/V) stream between a data network and an IEEE 1394 network are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, an A/V stream of an IP network is provided to a device connected to the IEEE 1394 network in real time, or the A/V stream of the IP network is once stored and then is provided to the device connected to the IEEE 1394 network when a viewer desires to view the A/V stream. The A/V stream can be provided to the viewer irrespective of the format parser, codec, transmission protocol, and transmission control protocol, required for the transrecorder's reception of the A/V stream from the media server or for the transrecorder's transmission of the A/V stream to the display device. Also, diverse A/V streams provided from the server of the data network can be stored, and then can be provided to the viewer through the display device whenever the display device connected to the IEEE 1394 network requests the A/V stream.

Abstract: A method for providing services in an IP-based network system to control a plurality of devices connected to one another within the network. The method includes the steps of (a) accessing a service lookup device that notifies services provided by the devices within the network, (b) displaying information on the devices connected to the network, (c) displaying a list of services provided by a device selected from the displayed devices, and (d) performing an operation according to a service selected from the displayed list of services. Accordingly, a user can be provided with services by the devices within the network either through a user interface or through a command.

Abstract: An A/V stream-forwarding system forwarding A/V streams of a data network to an IEEE 1394 network and a method therefor. The A/V stream-forwarding system has a media server having an interface with the data network and providing the A/V streams; a transcoder receiving the A/V streams provided by the media server through the data-network interface, and transcoding the A/V streams into A/V streams in a predetermined format supported by an IEEE 1394 network; and; a display device receiving and reproducing the A/V streams of the transcoder in the predetermined format that is supported by the IEEE 1394 network. Accordingly, the A/V streams of the data network are converted into A/V streams in a predetermined format that is supported by the IEEE 1394 network, regardless of diverse A/V stream formats, codecs, transmission protocols, transmission control protocols, and so on, of the data network.

Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for providing remote control service to devices in a home network are disclosed. A web page provider provides a master page of the home network, information on the devices in the home network, and a list of remote control service to remote and in-house users in a web page form. An identifier identifies the remote users. A message processor processes message inputs and outputs related to service registration, service validness, etc. of the devices in the home network. A storage device stores device and service information on the devices in the home network. A main controller controls operations of each element. Accordingly, a remote control service limited to a specific household device becomes applicable to various devices. Not only remote control and management, but also program download, installation and upgrade necessary for the remote control is possible.

Abstract: An internet protocol address converting apparatus has an address acquiring unit for acquiring a first private IP address in a first IP address format by connecting to a DHCP server that dynamically allots the IP address, and also acquiring a second private IP address for the second terminal; a network address providing unit for allotting the second terminal with a network address to generate a global IP address; a storing unit for storing a mapping table, the mapping table saving the second private IP address of the second terminal and the global IP address; an address converting unit for converting the second private IP address into the global IP address; and a control unit for performing an announcing, requesting a registration of the second terminal to a master server.

Abstract: A multimedia content redirection method is provided. The multimedia content redirection method reproduces media content at a sink node employing enhanced media reproduction performance by redirecting a current media content being reproduced to the sink node when the sink node, such as audio device or media player, capable of reproducing multimedia contents is discovered in a network while a source node such as mobile terminal is reproducing the media content in an ad-hoc network.

The apparatus for controlling a plurality of devices connected in the home network includes a batch processing portion for generating a batch command for a certain service of services provided by the plurality of devices, to process the certain service as one job, and a control portion for controlling when a batch command is selected, the control portion for controlling a certain device that is designated by the selected batch command operates in accordance with the selected batch command. Accordingly, operations of the devices within the home network for providing the service can be processed as one job.

Abstract: A method of providing digital rights management (DRM) interoperability and an ad hoc network device are provided where. a sink device requests a source device to transmit a receivable content in an ad hoc network, the source device provides DRM information corresponding to the requested receivable content, the sink device determines whether downloading of a DRM module is necessary using the DRM information, and the DRM module is downloaded as necessary, from the source device, to bind the DRM module to the requested receivable content. Accordingly, contents with different applied DRM technologies may be effectively shared in an ad hoc network.

Abstract: A contents player, a method for playing contents, a mobile code providing device and a method for providing a mobile code, that are applied to a digital rights management (DRM) system. The contents player applied to the DRM system, according to an embodiment of the present invention, includes a network interface part which receives the contents and additional data regarding the contents; a DRM module management part which demodulates the contents by a predetermined DRM module and if the DRM module capable of demodulating the contents does not exist, updates the DRM module through the network interface part; and a contents playing part which plays the demodulated contents. Accordingly, all the contents provided by a content provider can be used regardless of the DRM technology applied to the contents and a platform of a demodulator.

Abstract: A method for establishing a user interface suitable for plural clients each having a different user interface is provided. In a home network including a service server and at least one client, the client requests a user interface generator from the service server, and a client profile to the service server. The client receives a modified user interface generator suitable for the client profile, and creates a user interface using the modified user interface generator. If the client can not create the user interface, the service server or the client may request a user interface generation unit to create the user interface.

Abstract: A multi-home service system capable of allowing access among information devices connected to a home network as well as an access to information devices connected to external home networks. Gateways collect information related to the information devices connected to the home network, provide a service for mutual accesses among the information devices connected to the home network, and, if a multicast packet is received from an information device connected to the home network, transfer the multicast packet through a virtual private network (VPN) tunnel to the external home networks registered in a database through an application in advance. Further, if a multicast packet is transferred from an external home network, a gateway multicasts the packet to the information devices connected to the home network.
