Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing authentication are provided. The method includes performing, by a first authentication unit in a first electronic device, authentication with respect to a second electronic device that requests authentication through a first communication mode and when the second electronic device is authenticated, transmitting first information used for controlling the first electronic device to the second electronic device through the first communication mode and transferring second information indicating that the second electronic device is authenticated to a second authentication unit in the first electronic device.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for outputting contents where an Output Protection Level (OPL) has been set to an extension device in an electronic device are provided. The apparatus includes a secure processor for decrypting and decoding contents where a right to use the contents has been set using a secure Operating System (OS). When receiving an external output request for contents whose external output is not allowed, the secure processor stops generating of decoded data transmitted to an extension device.

The controller displays, when a first touch event occurs on the scene-searching bar displayed on the touch panel, an enlarged scene-searching bar that has the same length as the scene-searching bar and a shorter time range for searching for a scene in the video content than the time range of the scene-searching bar.
