  • Patent number: 8827027
Abstract: A motor car (10) has windows (28, 49) which can have a first H1 fully closed position and a lower H2 position in which water tightness is still provided but opening of a frameless window assembly/door assembly can be achieved more quickly from the point in time in which the door handle 44, 46) is operated. The Hi position may be selected as the vehicle accelerates above a given speed and the H2 position may be selected when the vehicle door is closed, and the window may also have a short-drop H3 lower re-spool H4 position or in the case of a rear window a three quarter lowered H5 position.

    Assignee: Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd.
Inventors: Andrew John Syvret, Adrian Charles Morgan Jenkins, William Manuel Walsh
  • Patent number: 8727419
Abstract: A window assembly (118) comprises: a window regulator (144) for driving a main window (124) up and down, a connection system (196) with a latch (198), a division bar (122), and quarter-light window (206) which may be driven down by the regulator (144) to a controlled index position at which the latch (198) disengages such that the quarter-light may be left in a slightly lowered index position while the main window may be further lowered, the latch reengaging once the main window is raised again, the raising and lowering of the quarter-light window (120) enabling the quarter-light to securely engage with a seal (246) positioned between its top edge (204) and an A-pillar (106) of the vehicle (100) and also allowing a door to which the assembly to be opened and closed without interference between the quarter-light and the seal (246).

  • Publication number: 20030228586
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for measuring de novo T-cell production in humans, and more particularly to the assessement recent thymic emigrant (RTE) diversity in a T-cell sub-population of a patient by the detection of T-cell receptor &bgr; chain DNA deletion circles (TCR&bgr;DC) generated during TCR gene rearrangement of thymocytes in the thymus. The method comprises isolating a T-cell sub-population from a patient, extracting genomic DNA from the T-cell sub-population, amplifying the genomic DNA with a primer specific for a T-cell receptor &bgr; chain DNA rearrangement deletion circle (TCR&bgr;DC) family and detecting the TCR&bgr;DC, the TRC&bgr;DC being indicative of the presence of a RTE. The method assesses the quantitative and qualitative (diversity) intrathymic T-cell production by quantitating the relative frequency and diversity of RTEs within various sub-populations of circulating human T-cells.

  • Patent number: 6019014
Abstract: An anchorage is provided for anchoring an elongate member (2) such as a Bowden-type control cable to a flat member (7) such as a vehicle bulkhead having an undercut slot (5) in an edge (6) thereof. The anchorage comprises a sleeve (1) which is fixable coaxially around the elongate member (2) and which is formed with a peripheral groove (4) whose axial length is sufficient to accommodate the thickness of the flat member (7) at its slot (5). The groove (4) defines a neck (8) which is a close fit into the slot (5), and at least one plunger member (9) carried by the sleeve (1) is axially movable relative to that sleeve (1) from a position in which it is clear of the groove (4) into a position in which it projects across the groove and enlarges the size of the neck (8) to a dimension such as to form an interlock with the undercut (11) of the slot (5), to resist withdrawal of the anchoring sleeve (1) therefrom.
