  • Patent number: 8944568
Abstract: A printhead may include a flow channel unit configured to discharge liquid. The printhead may include an actuator unit configured to apply discharge energy to the liquid in the flow channel unit. The printhead may include a flat flexible substrate connected to the actuator unit and configured to supply a drive signal to the actuator unit. The printhead may include a plurality of contact points disposed in an outline of the actuator unit in plan view and configured to electrically connect the actuator unit and the flat flexible substrate. The printhead may include a reinforcing member configured to fix a reinforcing portion, which includes at least part of an outer periphery of the actuator unit and the flat flexible substrate.

  • Patent number: 8177337
Abstract: A flow path unit of one aspect of the invention includes: a plurality of plates, each of the plurality of plates having a hole, the plurality of plates being laminated in a lamination direction with a predetermined positional relationship such that a flow path is formed by mutual communication of the holes provided at the plurality of plates. Each of the plurality of plates having a side surface, and a slit portion formed at the side surface, and the slit portions of the plurality of plates are connected to one another in the lamination direction of the plurality of plates. Each of widths of the slit portions of the plurality of plates is equal to or below an allowable error of a positional deviation of the plurality of plates so as to allow a formation of the flow path by the plurality of holes.

  • Patent number: 8104877
Abstract: A flat flexible substrate of a recording head has: a base having a surface facing an actuator unit, a plurality of lands placed on the surface and bonded to respective individual bumps, a plurality of wirings placed on the surface and connected to the respective lands, an insulating land cover layer covering parts of the respective lands other than the bonded points with the respective individual bumps, and an insulating wiring cover layer covering the wirings. The wiring cover layer and the land cover layer are placed on each other to form a layered part so that the wiring cover layer is sandwiched between the land cover layer and the wirings, and a piezoelectric layer and the wirings sandwich therebetween at least a part of the layered part. In the layered part, the land cover layer is fixed to the piezoelectric layer.

  • Patent number: 7726784
Abstract: A liquid ejection head according to one aspect of the invention comprises: a channel unit that comprises: a plurality of individual liquid channels each including a pressure chamber; and a first surface having a plurality of openings corresponding to a plurality of the pressure chambers; and a piezoelectric actuator unit having a second surface that is bonded to the first surface of the channel unit via an adhesive to cover the plurality of pressure chambers. One or more grooves are formed in the first surface of the channel unit to surround the plurality of pressure chambers. An outer edge portion of the second surface the piezoelectric actuator unit faces the groove. A supporting portion that faces the outer edge portion of the second surface of the piezoelectric actuator unit to support the piezoelectric actuator unit is provided in the groove.
