Abstract: A pellet to be used in a multi-layer laminate for storing liquid foods, comprising a hydrophilic reducing organic compound and a hydrophilic and water insoluble thermoplastic resin, wherein the hydrophilic reducing organic compound is kneaded with the hydrophilic and water insoluble thermoplastic resin. The kneaded compound comprised of the hydrophilic reducing organic compound and the hydrophilic and water insoluble thermoplastic resin is then kneaded with a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin and formed into a pellet. The pellet is such that 50 grams of the pellet when stored at 15° C. for one week in a sealed 180 ml container requires the presence of water in order to absorb oxygen.

Abstract: The present invention teaches (1) a composition for packaging aqueous liquid foods in which a hydrophilic reducing organic compound or an organic compound and a porous inorganic compound are dispersed in a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin by means of a hydrophilic and water insoluble thermoplastic resin, (2) a laminate for packaging the foods having an innermost layer or a layer adjacent to the innermost layer made of such composition, and (3) a laminate for packaging the foods having an innermost layer or a layer adjacent to the innermost layer made of a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin into which is dispersed a porous inorganic compound supporting an ascorbic acids.

Abstract: A packaging material (41) and a process and apparatus for producing the same are disclosed herein, wherein an satisfactorily enhanced gas barrier property is intended to be provided using a grease-proof paper sheet (23). A first layer (16) is formed on an outer surface which will be directed outwardly, when a package or container will be formed from the packaging material, and a second layer (37) is formed on an inner surface which will be directed outwardly, when the package or container will be formed from the packaging material. A substrate and a grease-proof paper layer (23) are provided between the first layer (16) and the second layer (37). At least one of the first and-second layers (16) and (37) is formed from a polymer selected from the group consisting of polyolefins. The grease-proof paper layer (23) has a TAPPI value in a range of 100 to 400 seconds. A polymer is coated on at least one of surfaces of the grease-proof paper layer (23).
