Abstract: A barcode recognition apparatus includes an image interface, an image analysis unit, an image conversion unit, and a bar recognition unit. The image interface acquires an image including a barcode captured by a camera. The image analysis unit analyzes a characteristic of an input image acquired from the camera, and decides an image conversion method for the conversion from the input image into an image for recognition processing on the basis of the analysis result. The image conversion unit converts the input image into an image for recognition processing by the image conversion method decided by the image analysis unit. The bar recognition unit performs barcode recognition processing for the image for recognition processing obtained by the image conversion unit.

Abstract: A luminous pattern scanning apparatus comprises an image producing means to produce a first image of a prescribed brightness and a second image darker than the first image brightness, respectively from luminous pattern marked on medium in fluorescent ink emitting light upon receipt of exciting light, a scanning means to obtain the scanning consequences of the first image and the second image by performing the pattern scanning process for the first and second images produced by the image producing means, a judging means to evaluate the scanning consequences of the first and second images obtained by the scanning means and output one final scanning consequence, and is capable of scanning luminous pattern certainly from any media which is strongly breached and difficult to be scanned marked luminous pattern.
