Abstract: Methods and compositions are described which allow for the sublingual absorption of peptides by oral administration. A liquid and a tablet format for the sublingual approach are demonstrated. The peptides are stable at room temperature and in the compositions herein described.

Abstract: A method for enhancing growth hormone production and release, for appetite suppression, or both, in a subject in need thereof. The method comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of a first composition, wherein the first composition increases cholinergic tone and growth hormone synthesis, and the second composition inhibits somatostatin. The first composition may be a combination of an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor and Vitamin E D-&agr;-succinate, whereas the second composition may be a salt of cysteamine and an alkali buffer, or may be pantothenic acid and an alkali metal salt. A two-part composition comprising the first and second compositions as also disclosed.

Abstract: A balanced composition of complex carbohydrate, protein, simple sugars, and lipids in the weight proportion of 3:2:1:1 substantially reduces appetite, even though the caloric composition is very low (about 240 cal per serving). This composition substantially facilitates weight loss, and increases exercise tolerance. It is designed for oral administration.

Specifically, the sweetener compositions include a sugar acid, such as a polyuronic acid, in an amount sufficient to eradicate the undesired lingering aftertaste of aspartame without contributing to viscosity or pulp volume. The present invention also involves the novel use of such sweetener compositions in food products, such as carbonated beverages, so that they no longer exhibit the lingering aftertaste of aspartame.

Abstract: There is disclosed an appetite suppressant composition for oral administration. The composition includes a heating and a cooling carminative substance, and may also include an amino acid and an anxiolytic substance. Also disclosed are methods for decreasing appetite by oral administration of the appetite suppressant composition, and for manufacture of the appetite suppressant composition.
