Abstract: A closure assembly to facilitate the sealing of each of a series of necked containers, each of different body configurations and contours, with the same hinged lid. The invention thus obviates the need for relatively complex and costly molds and effects substantial savings in manufacturing costs. The first component of the closure assembly is an adapter for mounting on a given particular container. The adapter includes a skirt for sleeved securement onto the neck of the container. A plate of the adapter overlies the container neck and is formed with a through port for discharge therethrough of material stored in the container. A second component of the closure assembly consists of a lid assembly, the same lid assembly being readily attachable to each of the different adapters, and, thus, to each of the different containers. The lid assembly includes a cover overlying the plate of the cap.

Abstract: A compressible, resilient, manually-energized pump functioning also as a container or reservoir for fluid products to be dispensed. The container is of a unitary construction in which a product discharge conduit is integrally formed with the reservoir with which it communicates, the conduit being joined at an upper extremity thereof to a generally horizontal discharge pipe section terminating in a constricted delivery port. An elongate web integrally formed with the container and the delivery conduit extends between and joins the conduit to the container wall along a height expanse of the container to establish a strong and stable, composite structure.

Abstract: A one-piece closure cap for a dispensing container. The cap, which is captive on the container body, is threadedly mounted for restricted rotation on the neck of the container so that upon elevation of the cap there is established a product release passage from the mouth of the container through product discharge ports formed in a surmounting top wall of the cap. Mechanical stops are provided to limit the degree of threaded rotation of the closure cap on the neck of the container to preclude inadvertent separation of the cap from the body of the container. The container neck is also formed adjacent an upper end thereof with a radially outwardly extending annular sealing bead which engages and stressingly abuts a circumscribing facing inner wall of the cap to prevent contents of the container from contaminating the threads of the closure assembly.

Abstract: A container and a cooperating cap, applicator and assembly for use in storing, retrieving, and in applying a fluid-like cosmetic material, and for other uses. The container is characterized in that it is conveniently positioned to assume each of two different, physically-stable, orientational attitudes or modes. In a first mode, the container stands upright, in a conventional manner. In its second mode, the container assumes a tilted or angular position so that the wand-manipulated applicator may conveniently be withdrawn and reinserted at a comfortable, corresponding use angle. Any need to exercise an inherently more awkward straight-up manipulation of the wand is obviated. The duo-stable capability feature is imparted to the container by providing a container base or floor with two distinct sectors which are angled with respect to one another.

Abstract: A hinge assembly for an articulated, multi-component closure for a dispensing container. The closure includes a generally cylindrical sleeve embracing a neck of the container and secured in place. The sleeve is bridged by a transversely-extending top wall formed with a through port for dispensing the contents of the container. A cap of the closure, which is hingedly mounted on the body of the closure, carries a downwardly-projecting plug for entry into to seal the dispensing port. The hinge assembly intercouples the body of the closure or the sleeve with the lid or cap and includes cap-carried hinge shaft elements seated in cooperating slots or openings formed in the sleeve body and defining a pivot axis extending in a plane paralleling the top wall of the sleeve but displaced downwardly therefrom.

Abstract: A container for a cream, gel, or the like, includes a bottle or jar, a top or primary cap, and a secondary or inner cover which is positioned over a top opening in the jar and compressed into sealing engagement therewith by the closure of the cap on the jar. The inner cover includes a resilient frusto-conical wall portion positioned between an outer rim a central hub. As the cap is threaded onto the jar, a top wall of the cap engages and depresses the hub of the inner cover, and flattens the frusto-conical wall which then exerts radially outward pressure on the rim to sealingly engage same with lip on the opening of the jar.

Abstract: A fluid-flow-regulating contact applicator consisting of a plug or sleeve secured as a closure for a liquid dispensing bottle or similar container. The applicator is formed with a plurality of liquid-permeable ducts extending through a top wall thereof to provide fluid flow communication between the interior of the container and the ambient system. The ducts are physically dimensioned so as effectively to invoke surface tension molecular forces including capillary forces to preclude free flow of liquid through the ducts in response to gravitation alone, but to allow through flow of liquid when an outer face of the applicator is presented to and establishes contact between liquid contained in the duct and a surface to which the liquid is to be applied, thereby overcoming flow-inhibiting surface tension forces.

Abstract: A roll-on type applicator assembly including a ball-type plastic fitment secured to the collar of a liquid dispensing container, and a closure therefor. The fitment includes an integrally formed sealing ring which constitutes a sharp rim formed at the intersection of a pair of angled annular faces. The applicator ball is supported in the fitment by means of an annular array of spring plates which bias the applicator ball upwardly of and out of contact with the sealing ring when the cap is removed from the container.

Abstract: A container and closure cap therefor which forms a package unit, with the container having an open top, a continuous sinuous surface adjacent the open top, the sinuous surface including rounded projections merging into adjacent rounded recesses, a closure cap for the container, the cap having a skirt and an open bottom with a continuous sinuous surface on the skirt, the last mentioned sinuous surface shaped complementary to the container sinuous surface so that the sinuous surface of the closure cap is adapted to engage the container sinuous surface with the projection of one positioned in the recesses of the other when the closure cap is in closing position, one or the other of said closure cap and container having an annular wall portion offset inwardly of its respective sinuous surface and adapted to interfit within the other of the closure cap or container adjacent its sinuous surface to frictionally secure the closure cap to the container.
