    Abstract: The present invention provides a device which is adapted to press together the septum primum and the septum secundum between the atrial chambers to close any tunnel in the septum. The device in its preferred form has two clamping members, one on each side of the septum and a central connector which connects the two clamping members and passes through the tunnel. The device is configured to conform to the anatomy such that the tunnel is not substantially deformed by the device. The central connector, in its preferred form has two wires that are spaced apart so that the wires are proximate the lateral sides of the tunnel. The spacing allows the device to be centered at an appropriate location.

The pill pack container is individually customized for each individual pill taker to organize, store, and dispense correctly a supply of pills of multiple types, sizes, and shapes for a predetermined time period.

A first plurality of spaced, elongate arms, in the expanded configuration of the filter, curve outwardly away from the longitudinal axis toward the trailing end of the filter to form a first filter basket. These arms prevent movement of the filter in a first longitudinal direction. A second plurality of spaced elongate legs angle outwardly away from the longitudinal axis toward the leading edge of the filter in the expanded configuration thereof. These second legs form a second filter basket opening toward the leading end and prevent longitudinal movement of the filter in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

The frame is somewhat flexible when expanded so that the loop joinder legs expand into contact with the periphery of a septal defect and determine the size to which the frame will expand.

Each sleeve extends around an associated one of the electrodes and is braided from a filamentary, polyester material so as to define multiple apertures enabling such a liquid reaching the sensor to pass through the sleeves so as to cause a short circuit between the electrodes.

    Abstract: A device is disclosed for sensing any of a wide range of liquid hydrocarbons. A ribbon-like sensor is employed, which has an inner, silicone rubber layer and an outer, silicone rubber layer and which has two broad faces and two narrow edges. The silicone rubber layers are capable of absorbing and swelling in the presence of a liquid hydrocarbon. The inner layer but not the outer layer is filled with electrically conductive particles, preferably carbon black particles, so as to be capable of switching from having an electrical impedance which is relatively low to having an electrical impedance which is relatively high when swollen in the presence of a liquid hydrocarbon. As made from an open cell, polyethylene foam, a porous body is attached to the sensor. The porous body is capable of floating with the sensor on water or on a liquid hydrocarbon and of conducting a liquid hydrocarbon through the porous body to the sensor.

The microprocessor compares pressure signal values generated from the frequency signal over timed intervals to a specified value indicative of a compaction. The microprocessor also compares the maximum pressure signal value generated therefrom, under certain conditions, to a threshold value indicative of the trash compactor having a substantially empty compactor and to a threshold value indicative of the trash compactor having a substantially full container. Whenever a specified, plural number of substantially full compactions have been determined, a modem sends a status signal to a computer at a remote location or a facsimile message to a facsimile machine at a remote location.
