  • Patent number: 5778581
Abstract: The apparatus has an inflatable member attached to top and bottom members. A flexible sleeve shaped display wall is attached to the top and bottom members and surrounds the inflatable member. The display sleeve has hook and loop fasteners on its outside. Flexible strips of material are attached to the top and bottom members to limit stretching of the inflatable member between the top and bottom members when inflated to prevent the display wall from being damaged when the inflatable member is inflated.

  • Patent number: 4183393
Abstract: Closure panel having high heat insulative capacity. There has been designed for a building opening a closure having a higher heat insulative capacity than has previously been available. There are provided inner and outer panels of high structural strength, such as steel, with means providing for the physical connection with thermal separation thereof. The space between said panels is filled with a foam material, foamed in place, which further provides for the mechanical connection but thermal separation of said inner and outer panels.

  • Patent number: 4147197
Abstract: There is provided a roll-type door having horizontally positioned slats which is normally held by operator means in an open position against gravity. Said operator means includes fusible means responding to a predetermined heat level for releasing said door and permitting same to move under gravity in a closing direction. Said operator means includes a device for initiating said door movement immediately after the response of said fusible means to said heat level and further includes a connection to braking means for insuring against too rapid a descent by the door. The door may be manually opened if desired or mechanical means, power driven if desired, may be provided for opening or assisting in opening such door. In the latter case, clutch means are provided for disconnecting same immediately upon breakdown of said fusible means whereby said door will be enabled to close freely in response to gravity subject only to control by the above-mentioned braking means.

  • Patent number: 4010408
Abstract: An operator for an upwardly acting door. A reversible electric motor is drivingly connected to the door by an intermediate drive linkage. A switch assembly is associated with the operator for controlling the upward and downward movement of the door, which switch assembly includes first and second limit switches for deactivating the motor when the door reaches its lowermost and uppermost positions, respectively. A third switch functions as a safety switch for causing reversal in the motor rotation when the driving force exceeds a preselected maximum. Fourth and fifth cut-off switches are respectively positioned adjacent the first and second switches for overriding the third switch when the door is within a preselected distance from its closed or open position. The limit and cut-off switches are controlled by a rotatable screw member having a pair of traveling nuts thereon which coact with a pair of individually movable control slides.

  • Patent number: 4008745
Abstract: A sectional door having a plurality of horizontally elongated and substantially rectangular panels having their adjacent horizontally extending edges hingedly connected to permit movement of the door between a closed substantially vertical position and an open substantially horizontal position. Each panel includes an elongated section member formed from a thin sheetlike material and having a generally channel-shaped cross-section. The section member has opposed leg portions of short length interconnected by a web portion which has a width several times greater than the length of the leg portions. The web portion includes a stiffening portion formed centrally thereof and extending longitudinally throughout the length of the section member. The stiffening portion is of a channel-shaped cross section which opens outwardly in a direction opposite to the channel-shaped section member. The channel-shaped stiffening portion has a depth which is at least approximately 70% of the depth of the panel.

  • Patent number: 3996697
Abstract: An operator for opening and closing an upwardly acting door, which operator includes an elongated rotatable drive screw having one end thereof drivingly connected to a power unit and the other end thereof disposed adjacent the upper edge of the door opening. The rotatable drive screw has a carriage engaged therewith which is slidably confined by an elongated guide rail for slidable movement therealong, which carriage is connected by a drawbar to the door for controlling the movement thereof. A floatable bearing arrangement is slidably disposed within the rail and has portions thereof positioned on opposite sides of the carriage so as to be movable along the rail in response to carriage movement, thereby providing an intermediate support for the drive screw. The drive screw is supported for limited axial movement and coacts with a control device for causing reversing of the door movement when the door strikes an obstruction when moving in its closing direction.
