Abstract: A mobile converter application is configured for installment on a mobile device. The mobile converter device provides interoperability between barcodes and NFC codes by translating barcodes to equivalent NFC codes and by translating NFC codes to equivalent barcodes. This enables the mobile device to transact with endpoint devices using either barcode technology or NFC technology depending on the capabilities of the endpoint devices.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of completing payment during a transaction which improves usability during a transaction by employing a picture-in-picture adapter to display payment screens with transaction screens on a primary display. An example method includes receiving a request to process payment from a transaction terminal by a payment peripheral, identifying a message to display within a payment screen by the payment peripheral, sending a signal to a video picture-in-picture adapter to display the payment screen containing the message, displaying the payment screen within a transaction screen from the transaction terminal by the video picture-in-picture adapter based upon display settings stored within the video picture-in-picture adapter, receiving information from the customer by the payment peripheral, and sending the information to the transaction terminal to complete the transaction by the payment peripheral.

Abstract: A coupon-dispensing kiosk for use at retail locations. The kiosk may, or may not, contain an Automated Teller Machine, ATM. The kiosk performs financial services, such as cashing checks. However, to avoid dispensing coins to customers, the kiosk prints coupons and dispenses them. The coupons will be redeemed by merchants associated with, or in close proximity to, the kiosk. The kiosk can be located, for example, at a shopping mall or local convenience store.
