The device comprises a catheter (2), and optionally a container (3) designed for containing irrigation medium (4) and a tube member (5) connecting the catheter (2) with the container (3). The catheter is provided with a fixation member (6) for fixation of the catheter inside the body canal and for providing a liquid tight seal between the catheter (2) and the body canal, which fixation member (6) automatically fixates and seals around the catheter (2) when placed in the body canal.
