  • Publication number: 20130305474
Abstract: System and method for cleaning rows of solar panels. Each solar row has an upper edge elevated above ground level and a lower edge to provide an inclination of the solar row. A cleaning assembly cleans the solar panel surfaces. A support frame supports the cleaning assembly and enables upward and downward motion in the width and length directions of the solar row. Operation and movement of the cleaning assembly is controlled so as to clean a surface of the solar panels during downward movement. The cleaning assembly is preferably not operative during upward movement. During downward movement, the cleaning assembly removes dirt, debris and dust from the surface of the solar panels and generates an air stream to blow off the dirt, debris, and dust. The system further includes a guide system for moving the cleaning assembly to align with successive solar panel rows.

  • Publication number: 20130306106
Abstract: System and method for cleaning a solar row of solar panels. The solar row has an upper edge elevated from ground level more than a lower edge to provide an inclination of the solar row. A cleaning assembly operates to clean a surface of the solar panels. A support frame supports the cleaning assembly and enables the cleaning assembly to move (1) upwardly and downwardly in the width direction of the solar row, and (2) in the length direction of the solar row. Operation and movement of the cleaning assembly is controlled by a control unit to cause the cleaning assembly to clean a surface of the solar panels during downward movement of the cleaning assembly. The cleaning assembly is preferably not operative during its upward vertical movement. During the downward movement, the cleaning assembly removes dirt, debris and dust from the surface of the solar panels and generates an air stream to blow off the dirt, debris, and dust.

  • Patent number: 7923854
Abstract: Wind turbine direct drive alternator system includes a supporting structure, at least two turbines mounted on the supporting structure to rotate in opposite directions when exposed to the same wind, a respective number of alternator rotor disks whereby each turbine is directly connected to an alternator rotor disk, and a stator unit having two sides each facing a respective rotor disk. The stator unit is arranged or constructed such that torque generated by rotation of each turbine can be transmitted therethrough with a view toward balancing the torque induced on the supporting structure by rotation of the turbines. When the stator unit includes two stator disks, each stator disk transmits approximately the same magnitude of torque as, but in an opposite direction to, the other stator disk. The two stator disks balance the torque of each other and almost no external torque is needed to balance the system.

  • Publication number: 20100290839
Abstract: Anchoring system for anchoring an object to a floor of a body of water includes a weighted portion, an explosive charge arrangement on the weighted portion, a movable pole arranged on the weighted portion, and a penetration system that moves the pole downward after initiation of the explosive charge arrangement. When the weighted portion rests on the floor of the body of water and the explosive charge arrangement is initiated, a concentrated jet of explosive product penetrates an area of the floor to create a pre-penetration area and the penetration system then moves the pole into the pre-penetration area to cause the pole to penetrate therein and be secured in the floor. The anchoring system can anchor a raft to which a wind turbine is mounted.

  • Patent number: 7830033
Abstract: System for producing electricity from wind energy includes a shaft, at least two turbines rotatably mounted to the shaft and arranged to rotate independent of one another and in opposite directions when subjected to the same wind, and one or more generators that convert rotation of the turbines into electricity. The magnitude of electricity generation by the generator(s) is related to the magnitude of torque induced by the generator(s) on the shaft, and the electricity generation by the generator(s) may be controlled such that torques induced on the shaft by the generator(s) is controlled such that a sum of torques induced on the shaft is substantially zero. Generated electricity is conducted to users, to electricity storage, or to processing components. In an airborne embodiment, a lifting structure generates a lifting force to lift the turbines to a desired altitude, and an anchoring system anchors the turbines relative to the ground.

  • Patent number: 7821149
Abstract: Airborne system for producing electricity from wind includes at least one shaft, one or more wind turbines rotatably mounted to each shaft, and generators that convert rotation of the turbine(s) into electricity. A lifting section is connected to the shaft(s) and generates a lifting force that causes the system to be airborne. A center of gravity of the system is lower than its center of lift. When the turbines are exposed to wind and rotate (at least one in one direction and another in an opposite direction), torques induced on the shaft(s) of the system balance each other and remaining deferential torque is balanced by returning torque that is generated by the angular deviation of the center of gravity from its lowest position. A magnitude of this returning torque increases as the angular deviation increases until the system reach angular stability. Electricity is generated and conducted for storage or usage.

  • Publication number: 20090250398
Abstract: Desalination system includes a submersible module defining a water-receiving interior and including openings leading from the interior to an exterior, reverse osmosis (RO) membranes arranged in each opening such that the RO membrane is exposed to seawater when the module is submersed, a pump arranged in connection with the interior of module, and a movement system for adjusting the vertical depth at which the module is submersed. The movement system can move the module in vertical and horizontal directions, in any predetermined pattern, or in vertical—horizontal planes defined by the movement system from one location to another location to prevent an elevated salt concentration in an area adjacent the RO membranes and to thereby maintain the osmotic pressure of the seawater in the area adjacent the RO membranes low.

  • Patent number: 7579700
Abstract: A system for converting electricity into pressurized air, and converting pressurized air into electricity. The system includes a pressurized air reservoir, two high pressure tanks, a pump and an electrical motor convertible into a hydro turbine and an electricity generator, a volume of water equal to a tank's volume, a set of controllable valves for connecting and disconnecting independently each tank, to the atmosphere, to the pump inlet and outlet, and to the air reservoir. In use, a volume of water in the first tank is pumped into the second tank, the air in the second tank is compressed and flows into the air reservoir. By changing position of the valves, the operation repeats with opposite roles of the tanks. In an electricity generating mode, the system operates by transferring pressurized air from the air reservoir into the first tank which is full of water, the pressurized water flowing through the hydro turbine generator thereby generating electricity.
