  • Patent number: 4310226
Abstract: Apparatus for recording characters on a photographic record medium including spaced feed and takeup reels for carrying a roll of the medium. A cylindrical support disposed between the reels supports the record medium. A carriage is controllably movable opposite the cylindrical support and in a direction along the cylindrical axis of the latter. A recording head on the carriage has a radiation emitter device for emitting intensity modulated radiation toward the cylindrical support along a scan line which is in a plane intersecting such cylindrical axis.

  • Patent number: 4208142
Abstract: In a printer having a print head assemblage longitudinally moving along a path parallel to a record medium, a portion of the print head assemblage is controlled to strike the record medium at a desired point by measuring the time required for sonic pulses generated in a rod at the position of the print head assemblage to arrive at a sensor, such time being a function of the distance from the print head assemblage to the sensor. A representation of this time is compared against a similar representation of a time associated with the position of the desired point and upon equality the portion of the print head assemblage is driven toward the record medium.

  • Patent number: 4022313
Abstract: In a printer wherein a ribbon is driven against a platen by a print element there is provided a ribbon lifting mechanism having a one revolution motor which drives, via a n-to-1 reduction gear, a ribbon guide to pivot to different positions whereby different transverse portions of the ribbon are interposed between the impact region of the print element and the platen.

  • Patent number: 3998153
Abstract: In order to reduce the noise resulting from the act of printing in a typewriter or line printer, the hammer is oscillated at high frequency with low power pulses, and the oscillating hammer is moved into proximity to the inked ribbon whereby the hammer repetitively impacts the ribbon in order to print one character.

  • Patent number: 3979161
Abstract: A copying machine for making copies on individual copy sheets includes a fire-extinguishing snuffer located downstream of a fuser. The fire-extinguishing snuffer comprises a pair of flat metallic plates for defining between them a flat-shaped 0.1 to 0.125 inch gap and guiding wire springs for guiding the leading edges of individual copy sheets into this gap while not impeding the flow of the copy sheets.
