    Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel diaminodicarboxylic acid represented by general formula (1): (wherein A is an aliphatic group; one of R1 and R2 is a carboxyl group, and the other is an amino group or a carbamoyl group; and one of R3 and R4 is a carboxyl group, and the other is an amino group or a carbamoyl group), a carbamoyl compound which is a synthetic intermediate for the diaminodicarboxylic acid, and a process for producing the diaminodicarboxylic acid. The diaminodicarboxylic acid can be produced by Hofmann reaction of the carbamoyl compound and is a useful compound as a starting material for resins or an additive for resins.
