  • Patent number: 6408141
Abstract: Machine discrimination data stored in an information storage area of a memory in a body of an image formation apparatus is read, and data stored in a machine information storage area of a memory in a cartridge mounted in the image formation apparatus is read. If the data in the cartridge is not “0”, it is judged whether or not the data in the body is identical with the data in the cartridge. If not identical, an error flag is set into “1”, and it is considered that a mounting error occurs, and controlling to prohibit image formation is performed. On the other hand, if the data in the cartridge is “0”, the mounted cartridge is considered as an unused cartridge, and the machine discrimination data of the body is stored in the mounted cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6249361
Abstract: When edit processing is to be performed for a plurality of originals to form visible images, all the originals are edited at once, and the resultant images are output. A DH (130) sequentially conveys originals to a read surface. A CCD (105) reads original images. When nine original images are completely read, the nine read original images are displayed on a CRT (131) to allow the user to perform edit processing for a desired original. The edit contents are stored in a predetermined storage device. When edit processing for the displayed original images is complete, the next nine originals are processed in the same manner as described above. When a series of edit operations are completed in this manner, and a copy instruction is given, a read operation is performed again from the first original, and each original is edited in accordance with the stored edit contents. The resultant images are then printed out.

  • Patent number: 6031631
Abstract: One of a plurality of image processing apparatus connected to an image processing system freely sets image forming conditions, such as recording paper size and enlargement/reduction magnification ratio, with regard to some or all of the other image processing apparatus, subsequently reads the image of an original by means of a reader, outputs image data indicative of the image read and transmits this image data to the other image processing apparatus. The image processing apparatus that has read the image of the original and the image processing apparatus that has received the image data output copies of the image of the original on the basis of the image forming conditions that have been set. Accordingly, it is possible to provide an image processing method and system in which a plurality of image processing apparatus are connected and identical images are outputted simultaneously from each of the apparatus connected.

  • Patent number: 5940114
Abstract: An image forming method includes the steps of compressing input image data and coding the input image data in block units, each block unit corresponding to a plurality of pixels. The method also includes storing the image data coded in the coding step in block units in a storing means, forming an image according to image data from the storing step, and correcting positional deviations of the image formed in the image forming step in units smaller than the block units.

  • Patent number: 5754916
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying member for carrying an image, a developing unit for developing an electrostatic image on the image carrying member, and a toner storage unit for storing the toners and replenishing the toners to the developing unit. In the image forming apparatus, a residual quantity of the toners within the toner storage unit is detected, and a quantity of toners substantially replenished to the developing unit from the toner storage unit is integrated. When a deficiency of the toner residual quantity is detected during a consecutive image forming operation, there is stopped and inhibited the image forming operation when an integrated value of the replenishing toner quantity reaches a predetermined value since the deficiency of the toner residual quantity was detected.

  • Patent number: 5678128
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a transporter for transporting a transfer medium to a plurality of image forming stations for transferring images in sequence onto the transfer medium. Each of the plurality of image forming stations has a recording medium onto which a transferred image is formed, an image forming device for forming the image on the recording medium, and a detector for detecting a state of the image formed on the recording medium. A controller operates in first and second modes, wherein the first mode operating conditions of the image forming device are determined based on a detected state of the image formed on the recording medium, and wherein in the second mode, the image forming device is controlled based on the operating conditions determined in the first mode.
