  • Patent number: 9916607
Abstract: An ink billing system is used between a client company X 200 that prints information and a printer manufacturer that supplies ink cartridges (or toner) to company X 200. Company X 200 has a main server 210, a plurality of in-store servers 220, 230 in communication with the main server, and a plurality of inkjet (or laser) printers 240 each having an ink cartridge 20 (or toner) for printing according to commands from the in-store server 220, 230. When billing company X 200 based on the number of ink shots (or drum charging time) used by the printers 240 and stored on the main server 210, the terminal device 100 of the printer manufacturer changes the billing rate per unit of ink according to the ink shot count (or drum charging time).

  • Patent number: 9390439
Abstract: A manufacturer server 110 that determines a first invoice amount or calculates a second invoice amount for an inkjet printer has a billing status acquisition unit 342 that acquires billing status information including actual print volume PV. An actual print volume calculation unit 343 determines (i) if PV is less than or equal to a specific volume V1, in which case the first invoice amount, which is a fixed amount, is determined, and (ii) if PV exceeds V1, in which case the second invoice amount is calculated. An invoice amount calculation unit 344 determines or calculates the first or second invoice amount.

  • Patent number: 9033453
Abstract: A manufacturer server 110 that calculates an invoice amount for an inkjet printer has a billing status acquisition unit 342 that acquires billing status information including actual print volume PV, which is the amount of ink used for actual printing not including maintenance during a specific period L1; an actual print volume calculation unit 343 that determines if actual print volume PV is greater than, less than or equal to a specific volume V1; and an invoice amount calculation unit 344 that determines an invoice amount. When actual print volume PV is greater than the specific volume V1, the invoice amount is determined based on the actual print volume PV.

  • Patent number: 7143942
Abstract: To reliably process a card such as a credit card to acquire accurate card information in accordance with the present invention without lowering job productivity, magnetic data is read from the card and in the same operation the front of the card is scanned to secure an image of data information such as the card number. The resulting image data is stored in memory. A control unit in conjunction with a reading evaluator such as a computer determines if the magnetic data has been successfully read or not. If reading the magnetic data is not successful, an OCR unit extracts the card number from the card by OCR processing of the scanned image data. The card number extracted by the OCR unit is then used for a card C authorization check.
